But it is a coaching candidate thread... Right. It's humorous how several people have asked for additional insight and it goes unnoticed. My point being that's how obsessed we are with getting a coach that can revive us. There's nothing quite like an Indiana coaching search!

It's necessary to communicate with the recruiting pipelines. You have to feel out their pulse on things re: Indiana because the relationship with IU coaches has been cold since Crean was on his way out. We've only been marginally successful (at best) with top talent in our backyard for the last decade. We had a top national talent de-commit in the last year. Dolson doesn't intend to do a half arse job on this hire. I don't consider diligence to be 'blabbing'.

If I recall correctly @Stuhoo mentioned Gates pretty early in the discussion. It was only minimally discussed at the time, but some did have him on the radar. He's just not a sexy name yet.
