Beard’s a really good coach. IU would be lucky to hire him. You guys should really stop relying on a couple tournament games to evaluate a coach.

Depends on his health. Which is supposedly better than it was made to be when OSU parted ways. He would possibly be the coach longer than 5 years because he is only 53 but there is risk.

I work with athletes every day. In fact I have a game to coach this afternoon. I know how things work.

That I get. Stevens was plan A, not sure plan B/C, then I think it’s Beilein based on connecting dots. Then I think it’ll fall to Fife/Lewis/etc. it Dolson has to go that far but I don’t think he will.

Regardless the new coach us to fit IU and if he doesn’t then IU will be doing this again within a few years too because that guy will flame out or bolt to another job.

How do you know it’s not the right time? I don’t think it is personally but I also wouldn’t be completely against Fife or Lewis. Until I met with someone and saw their plan, saw their X’s and O’s, and saw how they could win at IU I wouldn’t write off anyone. IU is different than most but so is the B1G as a whole. AD’s should always look and see the options and if options 1-4 don’t work then go get a guy that would do anything for IU to be good again.

That’s fine but what makes you think that Cheaney should be the head coach of the group. I don’t see that many IU guys on the staff.

Doesn’t mean he was being truthful. I get your Celtics connection but I’ve watched many coach denials and pregame pressers/media availability and that was the strangest one I’ve seen.
