The horror.

This..... Pleases me. Major ramifications. Lets Juwan breath as a 4. Lets De'Ron breath. May push Clifton out, or it may stand as a motivator for him. Trey was 172 lbs when he arrived at George Mason, played this year around 225. He put this weight on while dealing with diabetes, developed his game over the years. This guy would be a player. I really wasn't looking forward to another season where our best lineup has Juwan playing the 5. Juwan is fantastic, but we need to be bigger.

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Stromboli replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Romeo did a journal for USA Today yesterday about his experience. Link to the whole article: http://usatodayhss.com/2018/romeo-langford-mcdonalds-all-american-diary Relevant excerpts: [...] So far, I’ve liked playing with Darius Garland (Brentwood Academy, Brentwood, Tenn.) and Coby White (Greenfield School, Wilson, N.C.). They’re two good point guards who bring a lot of energy out there, and are very good on the breaks. I’ve been on NBA floors before, and obviously the crowds for our high school games are crazy, but I can tell you the lights at these arenas are definitely brighter. For those of you that don’t know about Indiana high school basketball, it’s crazy. The basketball is great, and every night is a big night in Indiana with high school basketball. Everybody lives up for it. There’s no other place like Indiana, because the fans pack the gyms everywhere. There are no small gyms. There are never games not packed. They’re always packed, and they’re always big games. It gets you pretty ready for college games, where the atmospheres are even crazier. I’m the only boy here from Indiana, and there’s one other girl here from the state (Heritage Christian’s Kaitlyn Gilbert). Some people think Indiana is not a great basketball state, but that’s just not true. There’s tons of good players all across the state, it’s a really area for hoop. [...] -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

I'm not a gamer, but I take interest in it just because it's a big thing in pop culture now. As I understand it, in Fortnite you can have a 4 man squad to complete objectives and beat other teams. All 4 guys have a headset, and usually a plan going in. Of course you have to counter what the other squads are doing as well. Jerome Hunter just did an interview with Hoosier Network where he was talking about his squad and their strategy to get dubs (Wins). Two snipers in the back, two guys flanking on either side. Sounds a little like small ball, no? I wasn't allowed to have video games growing up, and as an adult I'm not really drawn to playing them. But I think they've evolved well past donkey kong, or even the nerdy years of Gear or League. Interesting games, and really the way kids communicate now. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Stromboli replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Definitely. An article recently talked about his video game buddies. For those that don't know, online gaming is HUGE. It has really taken over for what social media used to be, for guys anyway. Kids all share their "gamer tag," and then at night they get online and they chat and play games together. In the past few months, there have been reports that Romeo games with TJD on a regular basis. He games with Darius all the time. Rob Phinisee has started gaming recently, but as Romeo says, "he's not good." An article this week just said that Romeo and Louis King play video games together all the time. Previous interviews, Romeo said Grimes is his best friend, and then as an afterthought threw in Darius as well. What I'm saying is that Louis King, who has no skin in the game but is tight with Romeo, says Indiana. Grimes, who is a best friend of Romeo and does have skin in the game, says Indiana. Also very interesting that Bazley and Jones both note that Romeo has been hanging with the Kansas guys all week, and yet they think he's going to Indiana. Otherwise, I refuse to take much from this beyond reinforcement that nobody knows. The responses are almost comically spread out over the three schools. -
(2019) SF Trendon Watford to LSU
Stromboli replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Well. Shucks. Thanks for the info. Sounds like Trendon can really play. Hard to reconcile why the staff wouldn't pursue a kid with his talents and connections to IU. Especially since the Watfords are already part of the IU family. -
Tyler Cook already declared, no agent. He had 28 pts and 10 rebounds against us. Edit: Bruno Fernando and Justin Jackson from Maryland are possibles.

Frankie Vision just published this Senior Year Highlights video for Romeo. Really well done video. Any holy smokes Romeo is awesome. Following his senior year has been great. I hope he commits to IU, but just the same I'm proud that he's an Indiana kid. -

3/15 Houston 3/16 Purdue. The only win Purdue will get, so I'm using them now! Edit: Gotcha, thanks Str8Hoosiers. The point is, Purdue sucks. -

I know we're making jokes here... But I think we're crossing a line. The pictures, the (less than flattering) psychoanalysis. Keep this relationship out of it. Keep this girl out of it. Any way we could get this deleted, and get back to trashing Kansas? -

Stromboli replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
"We want to get all this out of the way," said Tim Langford, as they pushed the commitment date back another month... I kid. For everyone trying to make predictions, Mr. Langford said they may decide to announce at the school or community. This is definitely a departure from announcing at the McDonalds game with Darius. I'd have to say it's a good sign. -
(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
Stromboli replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I gotta tell you, dudes. I'm a big fan of TJD. The kid can really play basketball. You know how we all say McSwain is a great athlete, but not a basketball player (yes retracted after he was effective this season)? TJD is a great athlete, and 100% basketball player. His moves get him to the hoop happen without hesitation. He's dunking before his defender can even muster a foul. He seems to know his place on the court, and welcomes contact. He plays a full court game, seems to look to pass and create space. He can even put the ball on the deck and go coast to coast with it, which is very impressive for a guy his size. He's got strength in the trunk (the "center of power"), and is just a junior in high school. USPS has seen him more than any of us, and so I know there are a few knocks on his game. It seems he can disappear from time to time, and maybe some attitude stuff. You all probably saw during the NA game, when he was playing with 2 founds and 1:30 left in the first half, his coach subbed him out and he kinda argued a bit. Meh. I think he mostly wants to win. I also don't think he has much talent around him, and maybe at times gets frustrated by feeling that. ITH posted a highlight vid from the New Albany game. Trayce is good, man. Watch how fast he executes his moves. Spins, euro steps, one dribbles, straight in. I'm pretty sure I saw an interview where he said he plans on committing "around this time next year." Let's hope not, for our own sanity. Would love for him to be a Hoosier. -

Yep. That was Mo Bamba to Wilkes, and I thought of the same thing. I agree that this quote from Grimes isn't anything at all. The only thing significant, to me, is that Romeo is acting like he may be getting closer. On Hoosier Guy... I guess we all have different perceptions. For Hoosier Guy I can pretty easily see his posts and just see him as an optimistic guy. His posting style is what it is, and I've mostly enjoyed it. I think the thing that begins to rub people the wrong way is when one poster gets extraordinarily repetitive. Otherwise, people seem to be pretty patient. -

This should be good for another 10 pages of speculation... Edit: For the record I don't like this stuff. Kris Wilkes would post things like this, apparently even after he was a heavy UCLA lean. Things like "Can I get a shout out from the Hoosiers??" or something like that. Second note. A recent video interview of Romeo after the McDonalds thing, Romeo said very clearly that he views Quentin Grimes as his best friend, and then threw out Darius as an "oh yeah, him too." I do not think the Darius thing is strong. I think Kansas is the bigger threat here. I hope it's the Hoosiers. Refuse to invest my achy breaky heart into this, though. Second Edit: Here's the video link about his best friends. We don't know what question was asked, so hard to know context. -

(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati
Stromboli replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Totes magotes, ElectricBoogaloo. I think videos don't do him justice. Everyone that sees him play in person comes away convinced he's ready. I saw him at Forum Tipoff, and compared to the other players, he does really stand out. Much larger overall, built for this. Kind of thicker, more durable looking. And yes, it's weird to talk like this. I know it's not cool to direct traffic to a competing site, but the video ITH just posted of RP against Zionsville is pretty good. The production quality of the game is better than most high school game, some great slow-mo replays of Phinisee driving.
