Honestly, I love reading what people have heard, but can't understand why anyone gets that caught up in it.

Defies logic...

Definitely have the talent. I'm just not sure they have the leadership. But, you just never know...

Your comment about Woodson fumbling his way into the tournament reminded me of this Seinfeld quote: Kramer goes to a fantasy camp? His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Do nothing, fall @$$-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating. THAT'S a fantasy camp. With a couple tweaks, its not far off :)

I kind of get what you are saying, and realize I am speaking from personal preference, but I don't get the draw of the NBA to coaches and Execs. But to me, watching the NBA is tough. Its some mix of athletes and professional wrestling with a hoop at each end.

Saying we should go after coach X, Y, or Z because he would have killed with this year's roster is not a great argument. Seriously, it would be hard to name very many coaches who wouldnt have done a better job. This roster was considered by many to be the most talented in the Big Ten. I may be totally wrong, but I still think Dolson already has his guy. I'm not saying I know who it is, but I think he is pretty confident that he is coming, or at least has a solid backup plan. Let's face it, none of us know how a coach will do here. IU got lucky with Coach Knight. Had Wisconsin not screwed up, he would have been there, and who knows what would have happened. Hindsight is easy. Foresight, not so much...

Or, maybe he put the work in months ago.

Maybe option #1 isn't a sure thing, but option #2 is.

Only my personal opinion, but I think IU already has their coach. Take that for what it's worth, but my feeling is that May has been told and that is why he signed an extension. As others have said, things aren't making a lot of sense right now. Scott is still doing his due diligence, but why has all the information suddenly stopped flowing? Maybe I'm delusional or it's just wishful thinking, but I think things aren't making much sense right now for a reason. Scott has been conducting this search for over a year now, IMO.

A stretch to think it happened that way, but it is funny to think about, especially if the rumors about the way Woody treated Dolson are true. When Woody said he would be the coach until he decided he wasn't, Dolson was sitting there, stone faced, thinking, You fool, you're a dead man walking :D

I have no inside information, and I think Stevens was always a long shot. But, I can't help but think, if you did have an agreement with him but wanted to move the attention away for a while, this is playing out pretty well for you. USPS, you can now post your disclaimer :)

Hello darkness my old friend...

If we tried and he said no, so be it. At least no one can say we didn't do what we could. Now let's move on to the next person. I have no hard feelings against anyone posting what they heard. It could have all been true or had some truth to it. That's just the way these things go.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
bigrod replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Its official that Mike Woodson is thinking only about Mike Woodson, and doesn't care about how his unwise choices affect anyone but Mike Woodson. So, basically nothing has changed. He wants to make it look like it was his decision, but he is still delusional enough to think he is going to get over this mountain he calls a hump. -

You're right! They've been bad almost as long as the football program, and... Oh, wait. -

What is our moral record? Maybe we can get in the moral tournament. I bet we could kick some moral @$$ and put up a moral banner! -
I was going to preface my comments that it felt like they were in the same place they were before he took over for his dad - just so much complacency.

Most places like to fail fast. Realize your mistake, fix it, and move forward. At IU, we like to fail slowly, like snails. Realize your mistake, throw a bunch of resources into showing everyone you didn't make a mistake, and then try to put out the raging dumpster fire with a sprinkler. -
The fact that they are sticking with Ballard tells me they just don't care anymore. Ballard has done nothing in his time there to warrant another year. Everyone believed the hype, that he was some kind of savant, when he was brought in, and he has done zilch to earn any benefit of doubt. For sure, Luck's sudden retirement hurt, but he has done nothing since except totally mismanage the franchise/draft/free agency. The fact that Irsay is willing to roll with no changes is exactly the same mistake Ballard made last year. Except for getting lucky on a few late round players, I can't think of anything he has done well.

Serious question: What do you think Woodson taught Ware? Ware knew he had to do well to bury the idea that he wasn't a hard worker. He went to summer camps to improve. Woodson let him play the way he wanted to play, but is that really developing him?

Maybe he'll stay after the new coach/staff is announced. -

His narrative wasn't working, so he decided to change the narrative. IU Football was broken too before Cig got there. There is nothing that is happening on the court that is anything more than lack of effort, motivation, planning, and tactical advantage. That is coaching. -
Kind of like saying, I would like to utilize the talent effectively.
