I said I don't praise the offense and they went in the toilet. However, the college coaches I interned with always told me in a Friday night match up between aces that if offense stakes you to an early lead the ace is expected to hold that up at all costs rest of night and if he doesn't its on him. Maybe some coaches have different philosophy's and offense certainly needs to wake up but based on what I learned this is mostly on Stiever who was bad in the middle innings. Whole team needs to get its act together though.

I should be more mad about tonight then I am but everything else around me locally went so well (Pacers, Cubs, Colts draft picks which I know some don't like but I did) I'm not really. I guess IU is struggling so much not even a good local sports night can save them. We can forget about hosting now and just worry about not playing our way out of tourney with RPI dropping to mid 30's after tonight. Only good news was Luke Miller returned and pinch hit so he's ready to return. Still not sure on Milto. We did our bad habit tonight of jumping on a team early and scoring only to go dormant rest of night. However, I have to blame this on Stiever who was great for 3 innings than was terrible in 4th-7th giving up 3 runs and was constantly under duress. As the ace and especially with how strong he was in first 3 innings he needs to hold that 2-0 lead and not give up more than a run. I am not praising the offense who deserves a lot of blame for going in toilet after 1st but if you stake your ace to a 2-0 lead after 1 he should be able to hold it rest of night and especially in a Friday night match up when other team’s ace is going. Winning the next 2 is a must which won’t be easy as it looks like Milto will not pitch again this weekend unless he goes Sunday but I doubt it. We need to forget about winning Big Ten and hosting Regional which is almost impossible now and just worry about staying in the tourney picture and not completing derailing the season. Update: Lemonis confirmed Milto not pitching this weekend and it will be Beauchamp and Herrin. No game midweek though with finals which helps a lot for Minny next weekend and maybe we can get back to full health. Offense better wake up though as Beauchamp and Herrin will certainly give up at least a couple.

Purdue fans say its the IU star and they give us better coverage than any team. I am not sure which is true since I see it as a fan through rose colored glasses but every fan base thinks every source is out to get them rightly or wrongly and gives everyone else more attention. I am not defending the star or bashing them. Just saying everyone thinks they give very one else's team more or better coverage. I've seen Pacer fans think they don't give enough coverage and give other local sports better coverage. I have seen Butler fans complain IU and PU get better coverage. I have heard Notre Dame fans complain the star does not give them enough coverage. I have seen high school fans complain they don't get enough coverage. The only coverage I have never seen complaints about is the Colts and even then I have heard negative things said about individual reporters. I think the lesson is star is just a bad paper for sports that upsets everyone in one way or another. -

Peegs may have just tip his hand on this podcast by accident: https://247sports.com/college/indiana/Article/The-Upland-Brewing-Co-Peegs-Podcast-Breaking-Down-Dallas-117654777 At the 23:00 minute mark he is asked about what he is most looking forward to about the announcement and says "what swayed him to Indiana" and than pauses for a brief second and says "or whatever school he chooses". Not sure it tips a hand but it certainly gives insight into where peegs thinks he is headed in my mind. -

Absolutely not. It just seems unfair to criticize someone solely because they are reporting what they are told by a source (and yes he was definitely told this) who may or may not be right. If someone has other reasons for not liking him I completely understand. -

Not surprised. I am sure he has been in Butler and PU gear at times also. Guy breathes college sports and is a fan of all in state teams as he should be given his role as the station manager of the main sports talk station here in Indy. -

Fair enough and you are probably right. It just seems silly to jump on him for solely reporting what he has been told especially given how much coverage he has ensured IU has received on 1070 over the years as the station manager. He's even mentioned soccer and baseball runs during postseason last few years during his segment which I can guarantee you never would of made the air without him. -

Sorry my hand slipped on the keyboard and didn't see I had misspelled it. Look the guy is far from a close friend. I met him and talked to him a couple times through some mutual work we did and his passion and knowledge of college basketball is second to none. After we met I was told to email him about something and he responded within less than an hour which was very responsible. He is not an IU hater at all and roots for all state teams. He is reporting what he was told and doesn't deserved to be belittled and called names for that. It's embarrassing to us as a fan base to do so. If people have other reasons for not liking him I completely understand and in that case I apologize but to think lowly of him solely because he is reporting what he was told about Langford is pretty petty. -

Can people just stop with Rakestraw. He's a great guy and I know him a bit personally. Just because he has been told something that may be incorrect does not mean he is being a contrarian or hates IU. Guy is a class act who is reporting what he has been told. Dakich is a complete hack (and I know this as well from a family friend who knows him) and should be criticized but people need to leave Raekstraw alone just because he is reporting and been told something different than what is currently out there. Also the fact that he's telling you he hopes he's wrong obviously means he hopes he goes to IU even though he was told differently. I hope you all realize if were not for Raekstraw 1070 (outside of Dakich) would be almost all Colts and Pacers and no college talk. He is the one that has pushed Grady and JMV to talk more IU, PU and Butler (and as station manger he has that power) and is a huge college fan and very knowledgeable about all things college including IU. Love listening him. -
I am not comfortable with anything we have been told about this situation. I am not accusing IU of lying but how did we go from suspension to under the weather to a 2 week foot injury within the span of a few days? Maybe all 3 happened at once simultaneously and they suspended him a game than he was under the weather a game and than hurt his foot and has been out since but I feel like there's something behind the curtain here that has not been pulled back yet potentially.

Congrats to the ladies. Unfortunately, I have been traveling than busy so saw none of any game in WNIT except a small part of TCU (as well as followed parts of UC Davis and Va Tech on twitter). Very cool to see the shots of the crowd throughout the tourney from pictures. Never thought I'd see the day where a women's game had a full lower level and people in the balcony which was awesome. I would say when counting actual people in the building that was the 4th largest crowd of the year men or women yesterday behind Duke, PU and MSU for the men. Again congrats to the ladies and glad we sent Buss out with a banner as the greatest player in women's history.

I know Raekstraw a little bit and can tell you he is a fan of all college basketball and certainly does not hate IU (not a fan of team either). Just because he has some info that may or may not be correct doesn't mean he is ant-IU. He is a stand up guy and I believe him when he says he was told Romeo is going to Vandy. Doesn't mean its true or the person that gave him this is correct. He is just saying what he is being told which he is allowed to do. Doesn't mean he hates IU or wants him to stay down. -
Ugh Victor. Game number 4 for me last night and he still has not performed well in any of them. Whole team didn't perform last night and I am now 1-3. It's to bad because last time I went against Memphis I said crowd could not even get into it late in a close game. Last night the crowd tried to get the Pacers back into it and was louder the couple times the Pacers cut it to single digits in the third quarter than at any point against Memphis. If this were a close game down stretch crowd actually would of been a factor. Overall its been a great year for Pacers but my pick of games has been most unlucky (blown out by Portland, lose to bad Dallas team, barely beat terrible Memphis and blown out by Utah) and Victor has been bad in 3 and missed 1.
-
Depends on the game and I was at everyone. Certainly there were times the crowd was not as loud but for PU, MSU, Duke, OSU and Maryland the crowds were very loud and into the game. I don't think the crowds are as consistently loud since we have struggled so much lately but a high level game or a close game late is as electric as it's always been.

Great try but we got the season together to late. If we played like we did all year since at MSU which started the long winning streak game we are in NCAA tourney. We were exhausted by the 4th quarter but hung in there. I really think we have a good chance tonight if we put away MSU early yesterday as we should of. Season is not over as we will make the WNIT which we have a good chance to win (64 teams no seeds, no auto bids and any over .500 power 5 teams pretty much get in and usually hosts so home games coming as long as we can win). Despite tourney being in Indy almost every year its only the second time we've played in night session that I've gotten to go (was busy last night) since I moved here to Indy and graduated IU 8 years ago. OK crowd but certainly program history reflects size of our crowd. We had about 2 sections in lower level of all IU fans and a few others scattered around the lower level (was about 60-20-20 IU, Maryland and other teams fans combined respectively). Overall only 6 side line sections on lower level were fairly full with rest of Fieldhouse mostly empty. I can tell you due to a much better history and recent success the many IU soccer games at Grand Park, the IU Butler soccer games at Butler and the yearly IU baseball game at Victory Field draw more IU fans than this did.

Sean went 16-15 first year like Archie and taken off since. Don't want the cheating but he's won big since in 8 years with 5 conference championships and 3 elite 8's and 2 additional Sweet 16's. Remove the improprieties and i'll gladly take Archie matching those results next 8 years. They certainly had identical records and seasons in every way their first years.
-
Well we exhausted ourselves to the point where we may have nothing left for Maryland tomorrow but great win. This team has no depth with 5 good starters (including 3 superstars or near superstars) and 1 occasional sub off bench and that's it.
-
We were so lucky the clock malfunctioned. As I have said though this team is super dumb. 2 chances to win with shot clock off and both time MSU gets the ball back with under 5 seconds because of a turnover.
-
That was the most pathetic celebration by MSU after clinching Big Ten title. Wonder if they are worried it will be vacated for having ineligible players or Izzo is trying to keep them focused for bigger things. Either way most laid back excitement I've seen after winning a Big Ten Championship.

I was there and atmosphere was good and the place was very loud in crunch time so you are incorrect there. People stood almost the whole way from about 10 minutes in the second half right until the end of the second OT. The only problem were the balconies were almost empty again although the main level was packed unlike the Illinois game. Winning will take care of all of this though. -
Indiana vs Ohio State Senior Night Game Thread

This game feels like a bad case of deja vu with some key differences. I am fast forwarding back to Feb 13 2008. This was the day they implicated Sampson and his recruiting violations went public. Later that night Brian Butch beat us on a 3 with about 4.5 seconds left that cost us Big Ten Title when we had just taken the lead a few seconds earlier in a back and forth game. Also throw in that my buddy who I was at the game with had a bit of a flu and upset stomach he was recovering from. Now fast forward to tonight and we lose on a 3 with 1.6 seconds left from about the same spot but a couple feet further out (only other time since we have lost a lead at home with under 10 seconds left was atrocious PSU meltdown in 14) after taking lead a few seconds earlier. Also IU gets somewhat implicated in FBI scandal and I am recovering from a bit of a flu and upset stomach. Obviously a few key differences in that this loss didn't cost us a Big Ten Title or even an NCAA appearance since we are a middling team. Also the implication on the scandal is no where near as bad (yet and hopefully it stays that way) and we are far from the only player so if anything happens to us it will happen to dozens of other programs also. Obviously the 2 nights are not alike in every way but in my world there are some strange similarites. -
That's big. If we get 7 much rather play NW than Wiscy. This website is useful for figuring out seeding: http://bball.notnothing.net/big10.php?sport=mbb

You also have to remember IU faces something very unique in that most of the ticket holders like me come from Indy an hour away. Most Northwestern and Illinois Ticket holders live in the city of the game. If this switch occurs you will see even lighter attendance on the 5:30pm and 6pm games and 6:30 is already a problem. I'm curious if IU (along with PU and Butler) would try to fight a move to central time as this could really jeopardize weeknight attendance for some games (tickets would be sold but the no shows would get larger possibly).
