  1. Daniel Gafford is sitting the tournament out for Arkansas after playing every for two years with Arkansas. So why is he 'throwing in thd towel now'? Think he hasn't had to go through similar things? Answer: he made a decision based on putting his own interests before the team's. He's a projected first round pick. So when I say that I'll be 100% coevinced that Romeo is playing thd NIT when he steps on the court, that is indicative if the fact that he most certainly would not be the first guy to do so based on what several other guts have done before him. I didn't say it with any venom directed toward him. I did NOT say 'he's going to quit on the team and throw in the towel'. I would say what I said about any projected lottery pick playing in the NIT.
  2. Well, that didn't take long....CAM says Romeo is 'day to day' with back stiffness. Says he expects him to play against St.Francis but I'm not holding my breath. https://www.google.com/amp/s/hoosierstateofmind.com/2019/03/18/indiana-basketball-romeo-langford-injury-date/amp/
  3. I won't be 100% sure Romeo is playing in the NIT until he steps foot on thr floor Tuesday.
  4. Technically we can go ahead and puck our Thusday and Friday winners since Thursday games don't effect Friday right? I am taking Florida State on Thursday. Assuming they don't lose, I'm taking Texas Tech on Friday.
  5. To be fair, they've won three of their last six.....all of those coming against Butler, who has lost 6 of 8.
  6. No, we don't den't deserve to be in. Truth is you could say that about four teams that make it in this year as well.
  7. As the parent of an 18 year old, stop throwing hatred at 18 year olds making life decisions that we all got to make without people who don't know us criticizing our choice of college.
  8. I....gulp.....agree with Old Friend.
  9. Honestly, forget the hiring of Miller as something that he should ever be fired for. We can be revisionist, but nationally people in the know felt like it was a good hire. The unforgivable offense was the hiring of Tom Allen. That is no basic due diligence.
  10. I think the fan base has been very bad toward DeVonte Green. He certainly plays out of control on quite a few occasions, but I never doubted his effort. And his ceiling is high.
  11. I'm an optimist. I see Glass as half-fired.
  12. Our starting point guard was a 136th ranked freshman and Al Durham was like 250th by 247 composite. Reality check: We had exactly three players on our roster that were top 100 recruits by 247 when they entered IU. Juwan Morgan wasn't....he was at 117. Phinnissee wasn't....he was at 136. The guys ranked in the top 100 were Langford, De'ron Davis (at 40), Jerome Hunter (at 59), and Justin Smith (78). Davis was coming off a torn ACL and still isn't capable of playing big minutes. Hunter didn't play a minute. We all love Juwan Morgan....but how much of that is based on the fact that he gets so much out of what he has and not from the fact that he is actually an ultra gifted player?
  13. Don't use facts.
  14. At IU, they want titles. The mist criticism I ever heard a coach get was Crean for losing to Syracuse. He was never forgiven for that.
  15. Rick Majerus was NEVER healthy enough to be coaching.
  16. And Mike Davis got closer to a banner than either of them.
  17. If we had Purdue's success, fans still wouldn't be happy. And as long as he's been there and had lack of tournament success, there would have been plenty of fans calling for his head.
  18. Let's just say they weren't wishing him well heading into the NBA and leave it at that.
  19. We lost 12 if 13 games midseason, but you are concerned about losing a game to a decent low/mid major at the end if the season will effect recruiting? Seriously, I'm glad 18 year old recruits aren't as fragile as fans are. The things I heard our 'fans' yelling at Romeo today were appalling.
  20. So? Simply put, I don't get fan sentiment of giving young guys more games. If you don't want to watch it, fine.
  21. When I was watching him in warm ups, I thought he looked sick. Might have been.
  22. Then don't watch it if you don't want. There are a lot of other channels on your TV.
  23. How much you willing to bet on that statement?
  24. I mentioned this in another thread, but the fact that the NCAA doesn't even calculate RPI any longer represents the idea that they knew it had outlived its usefulness and they had stopped looking at it in meeting rooms. Consider this: IU's strength of schedule is 50th by RPI standards. KenPom has it at 11. Sagarin has it at 13. Simply put, RPI did a horrendous job of measuring SOS, which is the main reason its gone. I also mentioned this....let's say IU had a couple more shots go in -- say they had beaten Purdue and Iowa once. They would be 19-12 with wins over Michigan St (x2), Wisconsin, Louisville, Marquette, Purdue, and Iowa. And you know what their RPI would be? 52......one spot behind Yale. Sorry, but RPI ratings are dead and there is a reason they are.
