  1. So I had hoped to catch a good IU performance at the BTT and all I caught was Covid.
  2. DeVries is all in. He's a hell of a coach. In the end, that's what I care about the most. Going to enjoy the dance with the gorgeous prom date you have and not the anyone that said no.
  3. Tyme's connections seemed to come from someone on the previous staff. He definitely was being given some information. But it's not a surprise he missed on who the hire was given that the current coaching staff would not have been given access to that decision.
  4. Stretch 4, was ranked 86th in class of 2024. Also had an offer from Illinois.
  5. So currently the only guys we are really confident on being in IU uniforms next year are Tucker DeVries and Trent Sisley. Already more three point shooting than last year.
  6. Denzel Valentine said to be one of Minnesota's targets. Valentine played at Michigan State and when he was hired two as Loyala (Chi)'s coach he was the youngest coach in D1 (he is 33 now). He has gone 63-39 at Loyala.
  7. Multiple sources reporting now. Have noted the change on original post.
  8. Josh Dix (Iowa) enters. 14.4 ppg., 3.2 reb, 2.8 ast, shot 51/42/77. Y'all know about him. Chase Forte (South Dakota). 6'4" guard. 17.9 ppg, 4.4 reb, 3.2 ast, shot 47/32/65.
  9. Coaching Changes indicating that Chris Collins seems to be dropping on the Villanova list. Jay Wright — who still has a lot of influence there — is pushing for Porter Moser.
  10. DeVries is really, really good. MVC player of the year as both a sophomore and junior.
  11. Just got asked. Seemed to make it clear that it would need to be something that fit both the player's AND the team's goals.
  12. It was said to be about $3 million.
  13. It is pronounced Dar-un
  14. Darren. I linked an article earlier and they mentioned that.
  15. my purdue friend loved when IU hired Woodson and did not like IU hiring devries. I’d take that as a good sign.
  16. FWIW, Jeff Goodman -- who likes nothing better than to pick on Indiana fans -- loves the DeVries hire. Calls him a workaholic and great X and O coach.
  17. I don't disagree that the current Big 12 football isn't very good and travel expenses would go down some. But I think ACC football is even worse and are headed down a path that will eventually see teams bolting -- particularly the money drivers. FWIW, Sagarin rates the average ACC team as five points worse than the average Big 12 team last season.
  18. I'm not sure the travel expenses would be all that different given who is in the ACC now. The ACC getting two teams in the playoffs this year was more of a result of Clemson beating SMU in the conference championship -- if that doesn't happen, they only get one team in. Big 12 football was down this year. I don't know the details of each of their television deals. I don't know that each conference had their deals extending this year. The ACC did change their method of revenue distribution in order to keep Clemson and Florida State from leaving that was more in favor or those two schools.
  19. ACC football is pretty mid, and that is more of a money driver than basketball. And with Florida State and Clemson considering leaving the ACC in the near future, the football money starts to dry up.
  20. Coaching Changes believes that Jerrod Calhoun (Utah State) will be targeted by West Virginia. Chris Collins and Richard Pitino Jr are thought to be in the mix for the Villanova job. SI mentioning Ben McCollum, Bucky McMillan, and Jerrod Calhoun as fits for Iowa.
  21. To keep track of coaching changes (power 5 or other noteworthy teams): Team/coach out/coach in Florida State: Leonard Hamilton OUT, Luke Loucks IN Indiana: Mike Woodson OUT, Darian DeVries IN Iowa: Fran McCaffrey OUT Ben McCollum IN Miami: Jim Larranga OUT, Jai Lucas IN Minnesota: Ben Johnson OUT NC State: Kevin Keatts OUT, Will Wade IN Texas Rodney Terry OUT Utah: Craig Smith OUT, Alex Jensen IN Villanova: Kyle Neptune OUT Virginia: Ron Sanchez OUT Ryan Odom IN West Virginia: Darian DeVries OUT
  22. Good mid to small school guards that entered today: Obi Agbim, Wyoming guard and all MWC player, enters the portal. 6'3" guard averaged 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists. Bulk three point shooter. Shot 47/44/79. Dedan Thomas, UNLV guard enters. 6'1" guard averaged 15.6 points, 2 rebounds, 4.7 assists. Two years eligibility. Shot 41/35/72. Quimari Peterson, East Tennessess State 6'1" guard. 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists. Shot 47/42/73. Jalen Jackson, IPFW 6'2" guard. 19.2 points, 4.4 reb, 3.1 ast. Shot 48/26/74
  23. Good to hear your opinion as you saw him play in high school. I assume you saw him play when he was a junior in high school (since that would have been Cupps' senior year)?
