Bassett and Ellis were the first to go, but that was after the season. So in other words, if you fault Sampson for not having a heavier hand, DD didn't either. I've also always wondered why there were no positive drug tests if it was such an issue.

I'm aware of the rumors. Keep in mind that 1) Gordon said Sampson tried to stop the drug use, and 2) DD was there beginning of Nov so would have been aware of the issues going on too.

I agree it was a huge bad..... even if the infraction itself is pretty lax by today's standards. And yes, we use the terms differently. All in all, I wish he hadn't done what he did, as I think we'd be in a very good position right now. He served his 5 year sentence, and is now having great success. We've been throw 2 coaches, and still struggling. IMO, though, the program was already "set back", so I don't really blame him for much. Yes we had high turnover after it, but a lot of teams have huge turnover every year, and simply reload.

Yup, I have the same concerns. If we're ever out of the playoff picture though... He's had some big moments, more than big games. IMO, it's a bit of a function of our scheme. But I agree overall.

Agreed. For me, I'm just pretty meh on the whole current situation. 1) we've been very inconsistent under CAM, 2) the recruiting side of things hasn't been great, and 3) and biggest thing, I just don't feel that we're improving.

Crean, IMO isn't bad, he's just not that good. So who realistically do you want? I agree on Crean's inconsistency, but if you list the 7th/8th/10th ranked seasons, you also have to concede that two out of his last 5 seasons were #1, both in which had Sweet 16 appearances. I'm no huge fan of Crean, but he did recruit much better than CAM, and seemed to at least be capable of making a run every few years. He's been slowly, but consistently improving UGA. Just my humble opinion, but I think UGA is a good landing spot for him. Not a big name or blue blood, and appreciate being competitive to an extent. They've only won the SEC twice since 80, and have the same number of appearances in the dance IIRC. I just wish Sampson wouldn't have F'd up. IMO we'd be back to blue blood status.
