Penn St @ Indiana, Wednesday 6:30 on BTN - Official Game Thread
gfunk69 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I had high hopes for Freddie as a dunker and defender but man he is just god awful on defense -
He current has the 5th best adjusted defensive rating, the 19th best adjusted offense, he's pretty young (46) so still room to grow as a coach, would have an easier time recruiting (more consistency and higher recruits in general) Has an Indiana connection that high school coaches in the state would (probably) love, Has developed players pretty well (Pierre Jackson stands out to me), he basically built Baylor up to what it is today, has made 3 elite 8s (may not be good enough for some of you but it's a hell of a lot better than two sweet 16 oustings), and to be completely transparent I have a personal bias to him because my grandparents are friends with his mom and dad or something like that.

I got bored so I made my "short" list of guys I wouldn't mind getting the job Tier 1: reasons are obvious Brad Stevens Billy Donovan Tony Bennett Scott drew Sean Miller Tier 2: mostly young semi proven coaches Dana Altman Archie Miller Chris holtmann Fred hoiberg Tier 3: young coaches with lots of potential Dick pitino josh pastner Chris Collins Frank Martin Gregg Marshall Tier 5: just guys I'd rather have than crean Avery Johnson Mike brey Bryce drew Brad underwood Mike Hall If you want my justification for any of them just ask. Didn't feel like doing it for all of them and didn't want this to be too long

As much as I'd like to have Stevens I don't see him coming here in the near future. It's been a while but I read something about him and he mentioned that in the NBA he gets the summer off to be with his family and that coaching in college is 24/7/365 because of recruiting. With that being said he has also said very good things about IU. So in my mind I think he stays in the NBA for a while and once the kids grow up and move out he MAY consider coming back to college game

Don't even do check it. It's not worth ruining your night

I cannot watch this team any more. I was cautiously optimistic heading into this game. I missed the first few possessions but when I turned it on the first possession went a little like this: Newkirk brought the ball up, passed it to somebody in the corner. Literally nobody moved guy in the corner (honestly don't remember, honestly don't care) passed it back to newkirk who then passed it back to the corner and that guy passed it back to Josh who pump faked a Deep 3 (I'm a damn near, if not better better shooter than him) then there was about 10 seconds left so james came to the top of the key and got the ball then passed to I think Bryant in the corner with like 6 on the shot clock who then fumbled and lost the ball out of bounds. I then shook my head, took a deep breath in, and said "yeeeeep", shut it off and played games on my phone the rest of the game This team has little to no heart, IQ, defense, resilience, mental toughness...the list could go on forever so I'll just stop before I become depressed

Serious question: If TB keeps having mediocre play/stats does he stay? -
(2018) PG Robert Phinisee to Cincinnati

I'm sure most of you know this but CC id usually one of the best low A schools in Indiana in all sports. As a student who used to attend a small Indiana school I have an absolute hatred of them and am glad the phinisee took it to them -

With Thomas Bryant being a possible B1G PoY and #10 being about the size of an ant guarding him why are we not just isoing him in the post and letting him go to town? -

Still made contact tho. But in all seriousness I am a huge proponent of letting teams play. As I read on this site one time "no blood, no foul" -

Freddie has let his man get by him easily a few times -
Give me Kentucky. Anytime we have a chance to play them I want it to happen
