  1. Seemed like I heard on the TV a smattering of boos, just a few times. Is that accurate?
  2. Ha ha ha. It's not about any expectations I have. I was just having a laugh that Trilly's list is the same names we've thrown around.
  3. Trilly very often right, but had had a couple of notable misses with IU. Are we sure he didn't just pull the coaching list from BTown Banners to stir up a large and excitable fan base. Maybe there was more to his update, but that seems pretty basic. ; )
  4. This is great. I totally only come here--multiple times a day--hoping against all reality that there'll be some insider news relaying how Scott and the big money donors have convinced Woodson to "retire" at the end of the season.
  5. Exactly. I can't believe he fully buys into his own BS. He must thing we're all really gullible.
  6. Interesting Do you know something? I don't have direct knowledge of the situation. I just imagine as a sign of respect for Woodson's past combined with his friendliness with BoT members and donors that even if they are really unhappy and want a change that they'd let him finish the season. If they thought firing Woodson could bring about a very successful season, then maybe. But I don't know that anyone thinks firing Woodson helps us this year, so they might as well save their buddy the shame. Plus, if they wanted him they are delusional, so they might be delusional enough to think he can turn this around.
  7. Because of his history with the program and his important friends, I'd be surprised if IU let him go before the season ends. They may make agreements behind closed doors that this season will be his last or he can fake an illness or announce his "retirement" at the end of the season.
  8. It's not a great look for the current IU staff to see transfers playing well. Says something negative out the staff's ability to develop talent. I understand this is just a few games, but something to watch and consider as the season moves on.
  9. I can remember when NC State hired Lowe, a former player and failed NBA coach, in 2006. I thought that was the epitome of desperation and no hope for the future. Oof.
  10. Playing Leal is like playing with only 4 offensive players. Defense is absolutely abysmal. It's like the team is still not taught how other squads value the three point shot. Our slow recovery, unwillingness to disrupt a shot, not approaching with a hand up. Tough watch.
  11. Which that in and of itself shows how far we've fallen.
  12. I agree a victory doesn't say much, but a loss though . . .
  13. Went to a high school game tonight. One team played 4 out and the other 5 out. It was sloppy and lazy and fundamentals were severely lacking, but the general movement, decisiveness, and pace of both squads marked a real contrast with Woodson's "system." Really disappointing to see the game evolve at the high school level but not at IU.
  14. To be fair, you have to in part by high school talent too. It's not like money is only in the portal. He didn't didn't just buy portal players, Ya recruited the transfer guards. They are here because of him and the money.
  15. You said things like this before. If I could just listen to you and forget about a quarter century of IU mismanaging the program I could find contentment this season.
  16. TJD wasn't going anyway else. The NBA didn't want him at that point and he wasn't going to make more money elsewhere. Sure, congrats on keeping TDJ, but the other options weren't great for him. Regarding Race, he seems like a nice person and I totally appreciate the effort he displayed on the court; however, IU would have been better served if Woodson didn't try to play them together. Race could have backed up TJD or transferred to Minnesota. Either would have been preferable to how Woodson rolled them out together. Race is a great example of the folly of Woodson--trying to make Race into something he wasn't foe wo years instead of adjusting to the modern game.
  17. I wonder what the cost was for each of them.
  18. If this is Dusty's dream job, then it doesn't matter. I don't know that it is. Also, in many ways it's easier to leave after one season than it is after multiple years of success where everything is in place organizationally for your program, you're a more prominent member of the university's community, wife is entrenched, etc.
  19. Not sure I understand your comment. There are a lot of people who want to live in cities and not towns, even gorgeous college towns. And there are people who want to live in rural areas, not cities. Obviously I think she should live in Bloomington ; )
  20. To your last sentence, I had always heard she didn't want to live in Bloomington. Nothing close to the source, just mentioned in passing from people who seem (or seem to think) they know. Just curious if you've heard differently.
  21. I want to believe you, but know IU basketball can't have nice things.
  22. Just to be clear I'm not saying it's the only way or the best way. Just that it is a way.
  23. You're pointing out an exception to the rule. Also, the reason he exerted so much control is because of what you said. He built it. So, the money people behind UW athletics trusted him and gave him the automony. The big money people at IU didn't trust Scott and didn't give him autonomy after Archie was let go. Maybe they will now. Maybe not. But the money people behind big college athletics are real and they often do rule behind the scenes. Sometimes they are benevolent and in lock-step with the AD, sometimes not.
  24. I liked your post because IU has proven to be woefully inept at evaluating and reeling in a talented basketball coach. Don't get me wrong, I'd like this to be Woody's last year, and this may be splitting hairs, but I'd give the edge to him over Archie.
  25. One of the issues with Crean is that he didn't listen to his assistants. Like Woody, Crean had a massive ego. He could not let himself defer to an assistant on a different way to coach defense. Time often heals old wounds. I get that. But Crean would still be coaching at Georgia or at least coaching somewhere if he was half as good as our memories have distorted him.
