  1. My point is more that when you use all of your cap space to fill out your starting 5 with superstars, the downside is your bench is going to be bad. So if injuries hit, you're toast. They hardly have any bench players who would even be in other team's rotations.
  2. GS's lack of depth rearing its ugly head. No pity here.
  3. I'm torn. We badly need another ball handler off the bench. But between his little YouTube highlight reel of him training, his other video he posted comparing himself to Steve Nash, and his extremely terrible numbers in France I'm just not sold he's a good fit.
  4. So what's the deal with Vijay? I know he's a good shooter and I would have expected him to see more action last year considering the glaring lack of shooters on our team. I know defense wasn't a real big priority with the Blackmon boys in HS so maybe that has kept him off the floor, but I would think his offensive abilities would make up for that.
  5. They could sure use his defense
  6. I went and saw Blackford's game last year against Northwestern. Taysom Parker went off in the first half but in the 2nd Blackford (finally) put Brown on him and he did a great job. He's a smart kid who understands where to be and what is going on. I think he'll end up being considered a strong team defender but an average at best 1 v 1 guy. Depends on how he grows and fills out physically the next few years. One thing it sounds like you can count on is he'll work day and night to improve. He seems to be the kid that will eventually reach his ceiling, whatever that may be.
  7. The New Zealand team is part of the Australian National Competition, the NBL. The league has a "Next Stars" development system in place for players that will be eligible to declare for the NBA Draft. The NBL contracts the players, not the individual team, so teams are not paying for the players out of there own pockets. This is a direct push by the league to gain bigger notoriety and reputation. It is also easier for the young players to come to Australia/New Zealand because there is no language barriers and the cultures are somewhat similar to the US. The NBL in the last few seasons has taken big steps forward and is a very solid competition now. This is a smart decision by the kid imo and I think this could start a trend of other top players skipping college.
  8. The secret weapon about to be unleashed. They're bringing in Kawhi 2.0.
  9. While I agree with you, those two words mean all the difference. A tournament appearance or even a deep run can change everything. Right now Archie is unproven in Bloomington and no doubt recruits see this. But once he shows he can win (if he does), it could open the floodgates.
  10. I haven't seen a ton of Whitt, but he reminds me of a poor man's Shaun Livingston. Ugly shot but he's not bad from mid-range. Seems to move well without the ball, catches a lot of lobs at the rim for a guard.
  11. He can do everything but shoot. At this point I feel another ball handler is a must add so this would be a great addition imo.
  12. I would have never dreamed that we wouldn't go find another point guard this offseason. Green has proven he is much better off the ball and yet either him or Durham will have to play that spot when RP sits.
  13. Sounds like Roby is getting the nudge to stay in the draft. I’ve seen several mocks with him going late 1st so maybe that’s a win/win. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Hoiberg is going to have them competing for B10 titles within a few years. Guy is a really under appreciated college coach.
  15. I think the Hawks like Huerter as their starter. I would say San Antonio would be a good fit for him to develop and reach his full potential. Sad to question this, but would Romeo be loved as a pick by the Pacers? I’ve seen a lot of bitter IU fans hating on the kid (not on this site). Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. Juwan Howard would be a name to look at. Been an assistant in Miami for a while now.
  17. Ehh playing time isn't based on your HS rankings though, if he plays well he'll get on the court.
  18. You're exactly right but I don't see any end in sight
  19. I’m the same way, Harden alone makes it unwatchable between his constant traveling and the way they hand him every touch foul he could ask for. The officials are to blame for that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  20. It’s so much more enjoyable watching GS without KD. Equally as enjoyable seeing Houston out of the playoffs, I can’t bring myself to sit down and watch any of their games. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  21. This seems like something we should look into. A veteran ball handler to backup Rob would be nice to have this season, allowing Green/Durham to play mostly off the ball where they are more efficient. The obvious issue would be if he is looking to go somewhere he can start. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/26717141/sources-thornton-leave-usc-grad-transfer
  22. That’s some stiff competition Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  23. I'm rooting for this kid to continue to improve so we're forced to go hard after him. His work ethic is what any college would want their culture to be about.
