  I think Rob is going to have a great sophomore year.  Although the players aren't grinding it out in B-town right now, Rob's posts on social media are showing me that he's doing double workouts almost every day in a gym back near his home.  Coach Crean likes Rob because he's a hard worker and has his head screwed on straight.  I'm expecting big things out of him in the near future.

Can we further discuss the rumors of Cal to Pelicans??   http://www.nola.com/pelicans/index.ssf/2015/05/john_calipari_interested_in_pe.html Not sure who the "source" is for most of the articles out there right now, but it's rumored that Pelicans were willing to pay around $4 to $5 million, while Cal currently makes $8MIL.  Interesting to note that he hasn't signed that contract extension that UK offered recently...   "But Calipari makes about $8 million annually and recently agreed to a one-year contract extension through 2022, which he hasn't yet signed."     Is there a "standard" time that NBA teams will usually hire on a new coach during the offseason? Whether Cal is actually interested or not, I'm curious to see how this all plays out and if the article is true or rubbish.

It would be so weird seeing a 6-10" at center and a taller guy on the side.  Would be a really tough combination to beat!  Thon would be a nightmare of a mismatch (in size) for many opposing teams.

I like to think of the situation in perhaps a more positive light, and I started to put together a few scenarios that would make this event "less bad"...   It's the very first week of the summer session and basketball is quite a ways away, drug tests usually administered closer to the start of the season are awhile off, and most of the students in the Union street apartments have already moved out.  I'd like to think that Devin takes his basketball seriously at IU and doesn't want to jeopardize it when closer to or during the season.  I'm assuming that if a basketball player were to smoke weed, it would be at this point of the year, with less people around and possibly no drug tests until near the start of next basketball season.  Adorning my rosy glasses now, i'll give Devin the benefit of the doubt that this instance wasn't the norm for him and that things conspired against him in the worst way at that moment when he was doing something he really should not have been doing. I'd like to think that this was a one-off event for Devin and only happens at the beginning of summer (when their schedule allows for it and perceived consequences are lower).    Also, didn't the report say that someone outside of the building smelled weed smoke?  if any of you have been to the union street apartments where this went down... there are TON of windows on this thing.  Unless the individual who smelled the weed had also seen smoke coming out of a window before it dissipated, then it would be nearly impossible to tell where it's coming from.    I'm wondering how someone outside the building was able to determine where the smell was coming from first off, then also, what possessed them to go out of their way to enter the building and locate the room and bust whoever inside.  Obviously it's illegal, so the actions taken were legitimate, but i'd argue that most police officers wouldn't go out of their way for a weed smell on campus unless it was blatantly obvious where it was coming from.    Could the police have investigated the weed smell outside those dorms more carefully knowing that it could possibly be the basketball players and they could have a high profile citation or arrest?     Edit: this is purely thought diarrhea right now and i'm just typing it out as i think it.  Just food for thought and a different perspective.  I'm not personally defending Devin's actions or criticizing our law enforcement, as they do a great job.

Ah screw it... I say let everyone sweat it out, then let DD stay.  IDGAF about them smoking, although it is just straight stupidity that he did it in the dorms.    DD plays a crucial social role on the team, he really is a "glue guy" and helps our team chemistry immensely.  He's recently recovered from a horrible accident and hasn't played ball all year.    Keep DD on the team.. he's not going to get much playing time this year anyways.  I don't care that he had pot one bit, that doesn't define who he is or his work ethic to me.

So basically, they are just adding 1 year to his contract and giving him $9.6 million for it... $1.6 now and $8 later. Not a bad deal for either side. Cal making his cut, and UK quells some rumors (plus they can afford it).

I bet Thomas Bryant's mother is really unhappy.
