Our points allowed/game last year was 73.3, 7.5 points more than Archie's average at Dayton and 5.7 more than the most any of Archie's teams averaged per game (67.6 2011-12, Archie's 1st year). Plain and simple, Archie's teams don't allow a lot of points. I know that pace can affect this, but then you look at kenpom (adjusts for pace, right?) and Archie's defenses have simply been better. We also averaged 15.2 turnovers/game. The flyers averaged 12.6 over Archie's tenure and maxed at 14.5/game (2012-13, Archie's second year; notice both maximums came early in his career). Statistically speaking, Archie's teams perform better. Did it take him time to establish his system, yeah? If we keep our core though, we could have some hard workers/passionate/experienced players (Collin, TB, Morgan and experienced Newkirk?JBJ/RoJo) who could get the ball rolling more quickly. I don't think it's unrealistic, according to the numbers, to expect a pretty decent-good team next year, if the right guys stay.

Who Wore it Best, IUBB Edition
CR3AMnCR1MS0N replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Haha. Well, I'm 19. First time I watched any sport was the Colts in the playoffs on their Super Bowl XLI run. First time I remember watching IU was when my great grandpa was in the nursing home during the 6-win season. Watched us against John Wall and against Kentucky the next year. I've watched/listened to almost every game since vs Evansville Cody's freshman year. -

Found both on internet) 44 – Luke Fischer Again, I'm waaay too young. -

Why are the digits 6-9 included? -
If it's marijuana/alcohol related, and not an assault or other violent crime, I think we can get over it.
-
Hahaha. Definitely was not accusing of that. It's a valid point that moves can affect the family. I feel awful for the Crean kids and hope none of our future coaches' families have to go through that here.
-
Yeah you win based guessing the age right alone and the famous thing definitely plays a huge role.
-
From that/Archie's Twitter, she looks younger than that. Personally I was 10 the last time my family moved (we also moved when I was 6) and i quickly got over any sadness. I could see it being a problem if she was in late middle school or early high school school, but at this point she's probably fine. If anything the timing of the Millers coming here now means Archie won't want to leave in 5 years because his daughter will be in high school.
-
It's his first time in Assembly hall when he could call it "home."
-
It's cool, my same, said family isn't really on board wit Archie yet, but I'm pretty sure he'll show them! Haha

Not my grandpa, my friend's. All my family I talked to thought an Alford hire was a bad idea. I agree with your statement though.
-
My friend who will be one of my roommates next school year told me his grandpa is upset at the hire... 83 years old... Wanted Alford. Ugh. Have no understanding as to why someone would prefer a 52 year old coach who's made the tournament less than a third of his years coaching D-I who also defended a sexual predator. I at least can understand why my dad, grandpa and cousin are worried that Archie might be a lateral move. Personally I love this hire. I just look at Archie's consistency getting to the tourney 4 straight years and compare Archie's and Crean's stats in the areas where I griped about Crean's coaching pre-firing. If you cut Archie's career in halves, his teams have cut back on turnovers better than Crean's, increased in defensive prowess (opposite of Crean's) and have not become as 3pt dependent as Crean's. In the first 3 years ('11-'13) Archie's teams averaged 13.1 turnovers/game. In the latter 3 years, the average was 12.0/game (a 1.1/game improvement) . In only one season (2012-13) did the Flyers average more than 13.0 turnovers/game. Crean's team's average from '11-'13: 13.6. From '14-'16: 13.4/game (only a 0.2/game improvement). In only 3 seasons did Crean's Hoosiers average 13.0 turnovers/game or less (2011-12, 2012-13 and 2014-15). Next, look at defense. Archie's teams allowed an average 67.1 points/game from 2011-13. From 2014-16: 64.5/game (2.6/game decrease/improvement). Crean's teams from 2011-13: 65.4 opposing points/game. From 2014-16: 71.6/game (6.2/game increase/regression). Its noteworthy that Crean's low in points allowed over the stretch was 62.1/game (2012-13: Zeller's sophomore year) while Archie's was 60.8/game (2014-15: the year he had nobody over 6'6" on the team). I'm pretty sure if you averaged Kenpom AdjD rankings, the trend would be the same/similar. Finally: Dependency on 3-Pointers. I know IU shoots a relatively high percentage on 3's, but I feel like a lot of our losses this year came when we didn't shoot lights out ("living and dying by the 3"). Archie's teams 2011-13: 18.5 3PAtt./game. 2014-16: 19.7/game (1.2/game increase). Crean's teams 2011-13: 16.2/game. 2014-16: 23.3/game (7.1/game increase). Again, I know Crean's teams (at least this year's team anyway) made a higher percentage of threes than Archie's, and higher percentage on more shots means more points scored. I feel, however like we had on nights where we kicked a$$ with the 3, but way too many off nights, where the high number of attempts and high number of misses killed us. To me, statistically speaking, Archie has improved (or at least not gone crazy as far as 3s go) in three critical facets of coaching consistent basketball teams, while Crean regressed in those areas. Crean seems to have peaked (at IU) in 2012 (and his peak was the Sweet 16 with a Ridiculously talented and experienced team), then mostly gone downhill. Plus he's 51 years old. Archie appears to be on the upswing as a coach and is only 38. He's still growing and has plenty of time to do so, and already showed more consistency than CTC ever did. Please let me know of flaws in my logic and/or math. Was up too late when I wrote this.

I almost would rather have seen UK playing in Phoenix. Going home from school for the weekend and would've been fun to pull against UK with dad again! Also, I don't want to see Duke or UNC win another title till after we win another. Gotta at least hold 3rd place! -

This, but I'm worried he might be mad enough to go to Minnesota just so he can play against Archie now.

2017 March Madness Tournament Thread
CR3AMnCR1MS0N replied to IU Hoosier41's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Holy ****! So ironic I was in SC for vacation on spring break visiting friends in Charleston. My friends had a USC blanket and I opened it and said to one of them, "Look at this big [emoji767]0[emoji767]k!" it's been a running joke and I keep sending my friend things like "Duke just got [emoji767]0[emoji767]ked" with a pic of the SC logo. Didn't think I'd get to keep the joke going this long! -

(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
CR3AMnCR1MS0N replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Okay... So I've told a couple friends and family members that I read a rumor here a while back the Romeo supposedly liked the idea of playing at IU but not Crean. Am I off my rocker for remembering seeing that? I've tried searching the thread and haven't found the post I feel I remember. -

I don't think that's really Archie

Anyone know if RoJo will be able to grad transfer?

I'd say I expect Elite 8 year 3 (led by De'Ron Davis [emoji4]) at the latest. This coming season, I'm willing to give some grace. I'd be happy in Archie's first year (assuming players leave like I'm expecting) if we could finish top 3 or 4 in the conference and get to the Sweet 16 and play a competitive game there. I would love more than that, but if our roster is "gutted," expecting more right away is probably unfair. If he doesn't have a strong enough core or can't lead talent well enough to win 3 tournament games by somewhere between years 3 and 5, he's failed at the job he's been hired for. I could see the 6th year being like this year for Crean if Archie hasn't made the E8 by then. Note: had we hired Donovan or Bennett, my expectations for this coming season would be the same.
