General Coach Candidate News
Hillsdale87 replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I've only watched Florida's two tournament games, but they're the worst coached team I've seen. Lots of talent, no system. I don't know what they were doing on offense the last ten minutes, but they basically just had the PG sit at the top of the key until there were 10 seconds on the clock and then had him go 1 on 1. It was terrible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

There is a remarkable disparity in athleticism between Wisconsin and Baylor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Ayo was unfocused all game. Terrible way to go out Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Illinois has had the skip pass open all game, and I'm not sure they've thrown one once. Moser has made Underwood look completely outmatched all game Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Illinois looks so poorly prepared. Their offense is a disaster Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

We will see if it holds, but Loyola looks like the much better team. This lead is not a fluke. They're getting good shots almost every time and Illinois has no idea how to handle the Loyola defense Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I have a hard time believing he was running with message board chatter. Possible, but unlikely IMO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I think this is probably true. Speculation wasn't just from Chris and 0708. Rabjohns reported last night that it was in play too, so there was clearly something going on. This wouldn't be the first time a coach got really far along in the process and backed out at the last minute. He could have been playing us, or he could have just gotten cold feet at the end. Either way it's disappointing, but this is not life and death. Hopefully the guy we ultimately land is awesome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

That guy is their NBA writer, and he's from Boston, so he's closest with the Celtics. It doesn't look like he knows anything here though, just pulling what he's seeing from others. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm happy for him too, but I don't know if it makes his pouting legitimate. I haven't watched Arkansas this year, but his stats are a little bit better than last year in a worse conference. He still can't shoot 3s and is a bad FT shooter. It looks like he's still pretty much the same player overall.

28 points, 13 rebounds for Justin Smith. Not bad...

I don't know why Florida is sticking with this defensive plan, but it is terrible.

I have a relative who claims to be connected to an IU booster, and he was giving me updates in 2017. He told me early in the morning the day Archie was hired that it was going to be Archie, so I feel like he was actually getting pretty good info. He also said that they thought they had a legit shot at Donovan for a while. So again, take it with a grain of salt, but that led me to think that they really were in on BD. I have heard nothing from him this time around though. -

I believe Bill Simmons has reported the same thing. Either him or Jackie MacMullen or somebody else on Simmons' podcast. Doesn't mean there actually was preferential treatment, but it seems likely that at least some of the guys felt that way. I think the chemistry issues are real Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I think he's in the same place most of us are. He wants Stevens to come to IU, thinks it's unlikely but possible, and is just having fun Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

If it's Stevens, we're not going to have to wait until the NBA season ends to find out. If IU doesn't have a coach by the time the tournament ends, I think it would be pretty obvious Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Great in his day, as in 2 years ago? He played in the national championship 3 years ago and won 30 games 2 years ago. He's not at the top of my list, but I don't think the game has passed him by. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Pretty much every guy on the team has noticeable issues with their shot. But Al is a great example of what hard work can do. If I remember correctly, he couldn't really shoot coming out of HS. He was never an elite shooter, but he turned himself into a pretty good outside shooter. Leal is the closest and doesn't require a big change, but guys like Lander, Galloway, Hunter, Phinisee, and Thompson need major changes. Galloway and Lander are a disaster right now, but they also didn't have a real offseason to work on things. Hopefully they can make a lot of progress this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I feel the same. Yes, he bears some fault, but at a certain point the players have to have some pride and get the job done. We shot 9-59 from 3 the last 3 games of the season, and many of those were good looks. Players have to put in the work to do their jobs well too, and it doesn't seem like they have Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
