  1. But it's the reality - might as well adapt. Don't need to throw bags of cash and have stripper poles in the dorm rooms but living in today's world would be a great start. Not saying IU isn't, but thinking about 40 years ago is fruitless in my mind - but perhaps that's just our difference in perspectives
  2. IU instances yes, but Jordan and Hakeem were 3 year players Just not often you see those guys sticking around that long anymore. If you can play in the league, these guy go now
  3. Archie brought in Phinisee, Lander, TJD, Franklin, Jerome Hunter (OH), Forester (OH), Damezi Anderson, Leal and Galloway. Woodson has brought in Reneau from FL and JHS from PA who are going to be better basketball players than the entire lot above. Does that still work?
  4. Didn't most players also stick around for 4 years in whatever time frame you're referring too? If you're worth a crap and playing at the level at IU or "elite programs", you're a rare breed for a guy to stick around that long today from what I've seen. Maybe NIL will change that a bit, but I doubt it
  5. Archie got an immediate recruiting boost when hired by landing Romeo but wasn't able to sustain as the wins didn't pile up. Woodson also got the same boost by landing JHS and Reneau but also starting from a much better roster than Miller inherited. Be interesting to see how this works out as Woodson looks to be needing to replace a lot of production next season and getting the feeling these recruits are in wait and see mode on if IU is worth their time
  6. If uniforms were that important, Oregon would be landing far more top basketball players than they do. Just finding the "Knight mentality" is something IU just can't quit. IU fanbase clamoring to recruit Indiana and the tri-state area as that's what Knight did in the 70's and 80's - cited as why Crean failed Archie recruits mostly Indiana guys, lands Romeo, he's going to succeed. Indiana guys turn out to be not very good and he can't land any big fish after Romeo Hire a former manager as AD as he knows what a successful basketball program at IU looks like 30-40 years ago AD hires Woodson. Former IU player 40 years ago who's been coaching only in the NBA because he also knows what a quality IU bball program looks like 40 years ago Perhaps there's some merit to return to that to find success - but that's quite some time ago and there's been a lot of changes since then: 3PT line, one-and-done, transfer portal. Quoted you, but not directed at you. Just been a long time lurker here and this is a summarization of some of the views I've read so assuming that's generally views of most of the fanbase
  7. As someone stated earlier, this same group is often very vocal when "my age group" attempts to update the program with the times. Not saying all of those are the step in the right direction, but there's been plenty uproar from the relevancy group when Crean replaced music with the band, logos being added to the court, renaming AH, etc.
  8. Right - and I'm saying can you all do better?
  9. Just from the outside-in that outlook permeates through the majority of the IU fanbase and admin. Born in May '87 - remember just as much mediocre Knight basketball than I do elite Knight basketball. IU seemingly so eager to return to that. I'm sure the Knight years that predated me were fantastic - but that was a looong time ago
  10. Just thought I'd quote the poster who said they were "responsible for IU's relevancy". If you're tasked with that, can you and your age group do a bit better on that front? IU hasn't won much of anything for 30 years But if it makes you feel better - what I said goes for everyone else too!
  11. Totally makes sense to compare coaching start from 40-50 years ago to Woodson in 2022. Game is totally the same
  12. Miles away imo. Team is still dealing with roster balance issues since the Sampson dismissal. This was supposed to be the most complete IU team since the Crean B1G championship seasons and even Crean had years with severely unbalanced rosters. Fixable but next year looks to be a major return to that. Woodson has the luxury of the portal but that’s been hit or miss as seen by Durr and X
  13. Large majority of posters were hoping, if not promising, for more from his spot and scholarship. Priller didn't exactly get treated with the same kindness from some of that very crowd
  14. Just recall the times reading how Leal, Kopp and Parker Stewart were going to solve all the shooting woes and really open things up for the offense and TJD. Time is running out on that dream
  15. Isn't that telling though no? Freshman Banks and Gunn getting in over him as a Junior
  16. Where's the Mr Basketball Leal?
  17. Gunn in and chuck. That's what I'm talking about!
  18. Just getting flat embarrassed. If these games were meant to show where we are and if we're ready, when will that be? Doesn't appear to me it's this year and I fully expect next to be worse minus some one and done movement the likes of Kentucky or Duke put on which I've yet to see IU be capable of
  19. Need more Indiana HS players
  20. Reneau is having a rough time adjusting to the quality of play. Did well against Xavier, but he's not having as good of time lately
  21. Needs some big guys too no?
  22. X getting hurt makes the misses of Phin and Lander more glaring imo. JHS and X were the only PGs left and its going to be a big ask for Galloway to play heavy PG minutes
  23. We're down 18. He can prove me wrong all he wants. In fact I'd love for someone to "prove me wrong", like anybody else. Bates, JHS, Reneau - he still play, he hurt?
  24. Bates is plenty athletic. McCullers made that 2 on 1 break look easy relative to the shot Bates put up a minute ago
  25. Offense is to predicated on getting the ball to TJD that if that's not there they just melt and stand still
