HoosierCoop reacted to IUsafety in OT: Trey Lyles
Word down here in the Louisville area is that Tom Lyles is holding out his son to get more money. The Lyles camp found out that the other freshmen were compensated better. Tom believes that Trey is the key piece to an undefeated season and he is holding out for at least Willie Stein compensation.

HoosierCoop got a reaction from Hutch89 in Interesting read about Coach Knight, Thoughts?
My brother-in-law's dad was a fishing lure rep in the 80's and 90's. Let's just say he had really good IU seats and kept Knight and company stocked with the latest and greatest. He also took them on quite a few fishing trips on the company. Rule #1 on the trip was no talk of basketball. Fishing was his peace of mind, basically his drug of choice to get his mind off of things. Rule #2 (and this was an unspoken rule) never start a conversation unless Knight starts it first. He learned this the hardway.
He gave my brother-in-law his tickets in '92 for the OSU game and I went with him. We had a convincing win that day where we played great. Then Todd Leary came in mid 2nd half and shot an unadvised 3-pointer. He missed badly and OSU went down and scored on the next possession. He was so enraged at Leary that he yanked him out and chewed on him the rest of the game. Everything did not matter except that Leary didn't follow his game plan. Perfection and nothing else!
I will never forget that.

Bob Knight will always be our alcoholic father who raised us right but was an ass. Not all bad and not all good

HoosierCoop got a reaction from ALASKA HOOSIER in (2015) C Thomas Bryant to IU
April (and not the player sitting on the bench) is a long ways away. Syracuse is in disarray and Bryant could surround himself with veteran talent that could make a serious run next season. Make the decision now for IU!

HoosierCoop got a reaction from WayneFleekHoosier in High School basketball.......This is Indiana
I love watching Indiana High School basketball. The level of competition across the state is awesome. There should be some great games around tournament time.
My Norwell Knights play Caleb Swanigan on the 12th. We will probably get destroyed but it will be fun to watch him in action.
I'll sit there and cry knowing that he will probably be a Sparty.

HoosierCoop reacted to Walking Boot of Doom in (2015) C Thomas Bryant to IU
"Bryant has spoken openly of his admiration from Tom Crean and the job he has done in developing big men in recent years like Noah Vonleh and Cody Zeller, who both became lottery picks after only a combined three seasons in Bloomington."

We have our family issues here...but nothing like the Orange!
Mrs. Bryant we have a nice, shiny starting Center position for your son at a top notch educational institution!!!

HoosierCoop got a reaction from Walking Boot of Doom in IU v. Wisco Game Thread 2/3 7pm on ESPN
Everybody breath........................................
Go back and think of pre-season expectations. We ALLLLLL knew this team was mysterious and unpredictable. Heck, I didn't think we would have ever been ranked in the top 25 but we did. We won some games that I shook my head at and we lost some games that I shook my head. Quite frankly, I am feeling pretty good where we are sitting compared to my expectations.
I remember seeing a Bob Knight team get schooled at Minnesota by 50 and Pat Knight being the player of the game.
Continue to give support. I know it's hard and that it sucks when winning isnt there. But they could have given up last night and trust me, I would rather see 14 than 40 points in deficit.
Don't tell me the players don't want to win. They are doing the best they can with what they are given.
Pray and have faith that the remainder of the season finishes well and above expectations.

HoosierCoop reacted to maxwell in Recruiting Momentum
I find it ironic that Richard Pitino stands at 3-7 with Minnesota considering his recommendation for Rick to acquire Kenny Johnson was like having a large tree limb fall across our driveway when it comes to recruiting. I'm very happy with job that Chuck Martin has done in resurfacing and cleaning up that area. I must say he is off to a solid start laying the proper foundation bringing Holt for our recruiting momentum to spiral onward and upward. I like the variety of facial expressions that the lad Emmit Holt brings to the table. Forget about the wingspan, ability to defend ...ability to get to the rim & charity stripe .... and all that other stuff. The facial expressions are just marvelous.
