Maybe he was a problem, maybe he wasn’t. Are we to believe that Dolson, Woody, others aren’t also a problem? I have read from so many here that are crapping on fife that he has been this way for a long time, that MSU was about to fire him etc. Then when it’s pointed out that those comments are directly throwing Dolson and IU under the bus for not doing their homework, that culls their fire

Just find it pretty crappy how negative many have been towards him Some prefer to be negative towards anyone as soon as they aren’t a part of the program, like they have a license to crap

I know, point is he was against it until the writing was on the wall and then changed his tune to be pro NIL. I guess he was smart enough to say whatever he had to at the right time but a lot of coaches were against it and if they are for it now, it’s kind of funny

This is tough for me tbh. Again, I think there are two sides to all of this and can use one very specific example. there was a charity golf outing where someone was paired up with Fife. They did not know each other but were obviously both IU fans and that became the basis of the conversation for the day. Dane suggested that Woodson had no idea what he was doing and that he and the rest of the staff had to educate him on EVERYTHING, how things work, when, why, what they could and couldn’t do wtc. That is two things, could be looked at as insubordination and throwing your coach and school under the bus or really scary and thank goodness he and others were there to guide. The positive to what he said was that He had been around a lot of coaches and none were able to close a recruit and his family like Woody. So it’s not like it was all bad, he told it like it was, the good and the bad. if he rubbed Woody the wrong way, it’s easy to stockpile an Arsenal of negatives about Fife or really anyone when you have a year to do that.

Again, what are you talking about? I as well as others have asked you to lay it all out there yet we continue to get cryptic one offs vs the whole and detailed list.

So in other words, Dolson et al didn’t do their homework? There were warning signs while he was at MSU, was going to get fired and IU didn’t look into that to avoid yet another debacle with a high profile alum, causing more wedges and divides…

This has no context to the situation. We’re not talking about sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is illegal, big difference. again, what did he say to the kids or talk about repeatedly. Unless you are going to say what he specifically said, this is nonsense

What are those things? I have read every post in this thread and it is like listening to a “who’s on first” skit.

I don’t think it all of a sudden came out, it was very evident watching the sidelines, timeouts, interviews and post game pressers that he wasn’t. Maybe someone told Rabby that or maybe he just saw what the rest of us saw. Look who he talks to on the sidelines, who he sits next to, says things like “my assistants were yelling at me to play so and so” “this is my team” Titus saying he isn’t utilizing Matta etc its out there because mostly Woody has put that out about himself. If Rabby is selling that as behind a paywall than I have an island to sell his subscribers

Why? At the end of the day, Rabby knows that he needs the university to be able to continue doing what he is doing. He also needs indiana fans to pay his bills. Dane is no longer affiliated with IU so he can spout off, he wouldn’t do that to someone still on the staff. Selective journalism - won’t bite the hand that feeds

We all know what to expect from some on his way out. He will go from “in woody we trust” to bum overnight

I have concerns as fan. Why have Matta on staff if he isn’t being utilized? That’s negligence. Why have assistants if they aren’t being listened to? Why have stats if they are being ignored?

If they aren’t political then what are they? Only other thing mentioned here is him offering a kid after being told to wait until he is on campus. what are these awful things that he repeatedly did that is causing the trashing?

As one poster suggested, take Rabby with a grain of salt - he is not without bias, he knows who butters his bread and it isn’t Dane

There are political undertones to just about everything. If you have an opinion on anything, buy certain products, associate with people, groups, live in certain places etc etc there are always political implications. For instance, NIL itself, whether you are for or against it has political implications. there are plenty of things the league, schools, teams, coaches and players say and do that are political, why pinpoint him?

It sounds like he wasn’t allowed to so yeah, that could have played a part too.

Everything is political. To pinpoint him is unfair.

He’s been here less than 1 year. He flat out couldn’t recruit? He’s been a solid recruiter for a decade, I doubt he forgot how. Just because he didn’t personally lead the recruitment for the few commits we got doesn’t mean much to me.

Don’t worry about it, that is a throw away in terms of value

I have to disagree with you there - CMW does not have the most skin in the game and in fact I would say he has the least amongst the core staff. Matta wants to be an AD, Fife and other coaches want to be head coaches etc and many are far from ready to call it quits. Their futures are on the line. On the flip side, Woody could have already retired, he’s old and rich…
