  1. I agree I want Archie to succeed here. I don't want to start over. But I don't want to wander in the wilderness for two more years either. Archie needs to pull his head out of his a$$ now and figure it out. This is a huge week -- with NW and OSU at home. If we are, in Don Fisher's words, "inept" in either game all hell is going to break loose.
  2. Ok. Show me 10 conference wins.
  3. I want incremental improvement. Smith came out at the beginning of the year on fire. It looked like he made big strides over the summer - scoring double digits. He's now regressed. Something happened -- did they say something too him? He's not as aggressive offensively. Team free throws haven't improved -- should be an easy improvement. Off the ball movement is non-existent. Rob's still in a funk. Green still has his out of control moments -- Could you imagine if he moved without the ball, got a screen, and took an open 3 in rhythm. It's just a mess. And it appears nothing has been done.
  4. It's not that Archie forgot how to coach. It's that he hasn't grown as a coach. He could get away with "gimicks" at Dayton. You can overhedge and overhelp in a league with lower talent. But get to Power 5, where teams (except us) have multiple shooters on the floor and you get blown out of the arena. Here's what I want to see. He goes back and watches the films and says "oh f$#@*" that's not working. Then make some adjustments, like not leaving known shooters wide open -- take the 2 if need be. Quickest offensive fix is to get them working on free throws -- no talent needed. But do something. If serious changes aren't made right now, kiss this year good bye.
  5. That's called being the tallest midget.
  6. It's not that IU isn't "hip or cool" or boring. We can't fill the place because we are bad right now.
  7. So you're basically advocating cheating (or playing in the "grey" area). No problem. But that has nothing to do with the cheerleader outfits, or Hoosier Hysteria, the big faces behind the basket, the facilities, or some other nonsense. Look, if the argument is we are too conservative following the rules, we can have that discussion. Some would say "just win baby" and hand out whatever it takes. Others would say "cheaters never win." The problem is we are in this mess because we hired a known cheater and he did it again (although I believe what he did is no longer impermissible).
  8. I think he did some time ago. But he also just said something to the effect that our guards don't have to score to play well. That's how you end up with a 20 point first half.
  9. Yeah, and Kentucky is the center of the modern world. I think you can still marry your cousin down there.
  10. Sorry dude, but you're the one out of touch. If you think bringing IU into "today's landscape" (whatever that means) will bring in the 5* recruits, then good luck with that. What brings in 5* recruits is winning. It starts with coaching. Unlike Archie, Coach K or Cal doesn't have to tell a recruit how good their chances of making the tournament will be. They simply say -- "we are guaranteed a spot in the tourney, and within your time here it is highly likely we'll get sweet 16/elite 8. With that, you can compete for a national title."
  11. Back in the Bulls heyday that's exactly what they did. Phil Jackson was good at managing players' egos and such. Tex Winter had a triple PhD in the triangle offense.
  12. Whatever. Cheerleaders, and all the "IU is boring " BS has nothing to do with winning basketball games. It's a sideshow.
  13. I'm going to double down on the comments regarding the administration and the facilities. It's all a bullchit smokescreen. Freaking Butler plays in the oldest arena on the planet. Cameron Indoor is a large "gym." Maybe the new "lounge" is the problem -- if they aren't in class, studying, or taking a dump, they should be practicing their god awful free throws. Not lounging. Oh and I am sure it's some freaking cheerleader in a turtleneck which is a turnoff. As was said, the administration, facilities, etc. have nothing to do with: over helping on D leaving 3 point shooters wide open; no functional offensive system, inability to hit free throws, no shooters (which have actually regressed); no accountability for piss poor play; stupid substitutions, lack of adjustments, and on and on. Players like to win. They like to play for winning programs. The rest is all fluff. You're not going from not making the tournament to the final 4 in a year or two. You need a plan. It starts with making the tournament every year. Once you do that, you can look to compete for Big Ten Championships. Once you regularly compete in the Big 10, you're looking to go sweet 16, elite 8 -- and if things work out Final 4s. To do it, you're not going to get a bunch of 5* recruits year 1 or 2. You'll need to do it with lesser talented kids -- which means you better be able to coach your a$$ off. Archie (or any coach) needs to self evaluate and figure out what they are good at. Then higher out your weaknesses. After last year, he should have gotten a shooting coach. He did not. That's a BIG problem. Maybe we should send him a copy of this: https://www.championshipproductions.com/cgi-bin/champ/p/Basketball/Archie-Millers-Shooting-Program_BD-05173.html?crm=r-1
  14. Should have asked for more time to practice free throws.
  15. The litany re Bob Knight just shows that the game changes. Rule changes bring more competition and parity. For the most part, Bobby adapted. If Henderson doesn't blow out his knee, we probably have a better showing in 1992. The 2002 appearance was essentially a Knight team. The problem with Archie is he doesn't adapt. Offense sucks, so make a frigging change. The failure to adapt kills mos coaches careers. Archie needs to adapt now. If he doesn't he should be gone. They need to get a new AD now. No reason to wait on Glass to clean out his office. Things need to change and he's a lame duck. If firing Archie is the first thing the new guy does then so be it. Who's next. At this point almost anyone would be an upgrade.
  16. And ends up beating a ranked Memphis on the road. We're cursed.
  17. If you need your fill, crean is on cbs.
  18. He could still fire the guy.
  19. I don't know. It's embarrassing to play for this chit show.
  20. Can somebody please go to the Hyper and find a kid that can shoot. This is fikg embarrassing
  21. Just listen to miller in time out. Have 30 some points and he's talking about defense. Guys a cluster f right now. Sorry. New ad has to make a change.
  22. Most of the them fail. The ones that succeed adapt to power five play. Crean didn't adapt to the defensive requirements. Archie hasn't adapted to the offensive requirements.
  23. That's the problem with these "mid major" guys. They can win based on one side of the ball. When you get to the big time you need a complete team -- offense and defense. Unfortunately, Archie hasn't adjusted offensively. That's bad coaching. The good coaches always adapt. I'm afraid this could be a cluster F for a while.
  24. Any of us on this board could have coached a win tonight. It's freaking basketball not astrophysics. :)
  25. Devonte is the Tasmanian devil.
