I agree the 5 star freshman works, but I'm not sure we're going to win that battle, so I would shift and try a different model. We can't play the 5 star model loosing the recruiting battle and compete. If that doesn't work, I would change my method and go towards the Wiscy and Villanova model. I think if you took this IU team/staff moved them a 100 miles and called them Hickory they would go far. I'm not sure they have the on court leadership to deal with the pressure that comes with playing at IU. This is NOT a knock on this team. Just an observation of what might limit this team. We need to change our recruiting model and start leaning on senior players more. This team with a couple of true seniors would be scary. The Hartman injury was huge. His demeanor is what really has me thinking he goes through the roof. The young man seems really grounded and i think that's what lifts him to lottery status. His mind is what will allow his talent to blow up ....

LOL - yep Clean is relative for sure.... I guess my point was results on the court (extremely high results) are the only way to combat the toxic recruiting landscape. I agree,,,, Nobody is completely CLEAN .....

This is just all my opinion and I might be way off base. What I believe: Coach Crean is clean and the recruiting environment is toxic. He attacks this by trying to outwork some of the other players. We will win some great recruits like Zeller, YF, TB and list goes on ... All the recruits we loose are NOT, because someone cheated, but we're not playing on an even playing field. I'm okay with that and it's not something that's new. He's going to miss out on some top recruits and he will need to learn how to out coach them on the court (if IU will go to the next level)..... I'm not sure Coach is good enough, but I'm cheering for him to make the next step on the sidelines. IU needs a final 4 soooo bad.... And i think they have the talent to reach that this year.

OG is going to blow up and TB will dominate the inside. We just need solid guard play and we should do really well this year. Defense will determine how far this team goes ... I don't see IU having an issue with scoring points...

Coach needs to show me it this year... I believe in him and i want to see a top defensive team, because with good guard play.... we might have something.

we have that now... (top 25). I don't think you're wrong on the long athletic part, but we need to find the combination to get us past the sweet 16. I think your point about defense is the key, but I'm not sure that's solely on long athletic players. We need that for sure, but we need good defense fundamentals. I think this year team will answer a lot of questions about defense philosophy for me. If we don't start out switching from m2m to zone in the middle of a possession, I'll be happy.

IU will not be UK.... from recent we need to emulate MSU and UCONN. Just my two cents ....

You need a mixture of long athletic players with high IQ glue guys. Of course, I would always rate skill as the highest priority. Too much is given to off the bus eye test... I'm all for how they perform on the court. I'm a fan of court eye test...

OG is a big key going forward. He's the X factor.
