Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Alabama is 11-for-23 at the free throw line. -
Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

I'm sure he doesn't care, just wondering what he was expecting. He had to have had an expectation. -

I'm not saying he should care. But he would still have an expectation on how he felt this would be received. -

I really wonder what reaction Dolson was expecting from both fans and media? Did he think the "IU guy" thing would win the day, or I wonder if he expected some mixed reactions at best and he would have to sell this. -

Matta won't be able to recruit or coach, even in practice, in his role. -

He kind of already is home. He's from Michigan, not Indiana. -

What doesn't make sense is why not just hire Fife? Fife doesn't need to learn from Woodson or be a "coach in waiting" for Woodson. Woodson doesn't have any college experience. -

To add to that, the Celtics are currently the 7th seed in the East, but are just 1 game out of the 4th seed (which is Charlotte and Ball is out the rest of the season), with their next 7 games at home. It will be key to get Tristian Thompson and Evan Fournier out of the Covid protocols soon, but the Celtics are in decent shape to solidify things. Not saying a title run or anything, but they'll be solidly in the playoffs. -
Candidate Thread: Porter Moser
BGleas replied to Henryville Hoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Agree. IMO Musselman, Beard or Oats can come in and recruit against the Big Ten from the day they arrive. Not saying they'd dominate, but they are on even footing. I know Moser is a Midwest guy and probably has connections, but this summer/fall if he's the IU coach and recruiting head-to-head against Izzo, Painter, Holtman, Howard, etc., where does he rank in those battles? Probably at the bottom. -
Even when Crean was here too. Both he and Archie would press after it was too late to cut a 14 point loss to an 8 point loss so we could clap at the end and feel good about it.

That's why I said rational Celtics fans, not Celtics Twitter. But again, it's not going to end for Brad unless he leaves on his own. Wyc and Danny love him. He's not getting fired, at least not now or anytime soon. -

Most rational Celtics fans, knowing they're not winning a title this year want Robert Williams to get as much playing time as possible and know Drummond would have negatively impacted that. We're good not getting Drummond. He's an empty stat guy anyways. -

Ok, but fiasco? -
I've only watched Arkansas twice this year. This game and their first tournament game. In both games Musselman made an adjustment to begin applying pressure when his team needed a jolt and it wss clear they were more athletic. It's paid off both times. I don't know the last time I've seen that at IU?

Would be surprising. Kind of goes against everything Dolson said in his press conference. -

I'm pretty sure he didn't. Can you imagine Stevens publicly criticizing his GM's moves? -
Great way of putting it, and I'm 100% comfortable with that.

Good example! I was a marketing major in college and we all had to take two mathematics courses (algebra and calculus) taught by a professor in the mathematics department. The professor knew we weren't mathematics majors and knew the class was really hard. Every single time we had a test the professor would literally leave the room for 15-20 minutes and go sit in his office. During that time we all worked together, shared our answers, etc. Was it cheating? Yes. Did the professor at minimum not care and at maximum even support it? Absolutely. Not a single person ever got in trouble. Should I have sat there and not participated with the rest of my classmates and failed the class, while they all passed?

I'll give you an example. We've all heard how it's really difficult for IU to get grad transfers in, right? I don't know how accurate that is, but let's assume its accurate for discussions sake. Stay with me here. I wasn't the best student in high school. Mostly just lack of focus and caring. So when I was being recruited for basketball, some schools had to pass because of my GPA. The school I ended up going to had me hold off on applying to school until the coach mailed me an application. The application he sent me was stamped at the top with a special "Basketball Office" stamp so the admissions people would know i was a scholarship recruit that our coach wanted to be admitted. Not every player got that application. Obviously I didn't play at IU's level, but I'd consider that the Division 2 version of the gray area. So let's assume the IU grad transfer difficulty rumor is true. No IU basketball coach should ever have to worry about that if he wants a player.
-
Am I jaded, or is it reality? Maryland and Kansas were out bidding each other a couple years ago over De Sousa (I think that's his name) who was a borderline starter, a recruit ranked in like the 80's or something. Not a 5*.

Agree. What's the point of even fielding a team if all of your main competition is going to do everything they can to beat you, and no governing body even cares about the rules, while you toe the rulebook by the letter of the law? I agree, I dont want blatant cheating. But, IU should certainly be doing anything that Duke, UK, UNC, Villanova, Michigan State, etc, are all doing. The NCAA clearly does not care at all.
-
In 2021 if you're running a program that wins at a consistently high level, I just assume you're either cheating (if we can even call it that anymore since the NCAA doesn't care and there are no consequences) or heavily in the gray area. And yes, that includes Villanova, UVA, MSU, etc.
