  1. Cmon, get Green and Morgan back in this game! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  2. I thought he was officially let go? Guess not. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  3. I was about to give Crean credit and then he puts this lineup out there, unbelievable! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  4. Really like this lineup. Loved the starting lineup. Wish Davis wouldn't have picked up two quick ones though.! Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  5. We had the talent to be, just not the coach. Even with the current talent this should be a sweet 16 team with a decent coach and we aren't even going to make the tournament. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  6. I am not sure the practices at UK would have been as high tempo as they supposedly are here along with the lesser workload (mpg) could have actually worked in his favor. Keep in mind, I firmly believe that our strength training program kills pure shooters their Freshman year until they adjust to their new bodies so take that away and he shoots like he is this year as a Freshman at UK, with less exposure to poor defense and its possible. I'm not talking high 1st round but in the 20-30 range possibly. Then again, I could be completely wrong. No way of knowing at this point. I really like JBJ as a player, just wish he would have been used properly while he was here.
  7. I can see that but I think Cal would have used him properly and he would have showed enough to be a one and done or 2 and done. With the number of players UK is sending to the NBA, and the whole 2 squad thing he did, the limited playing time would help hide any deficiencies a player has vs playing 35 minutes a game. His prior reputation/rankings would have held up where they are virtually non existent now because he has been exposed and the proof is on tape.
  8. This gives me hope that if we get a top notch coach in here and his pro prospects aren't great, that there is a chance he might actually stay. However, if Crean is still here, then I think it would be the best thing for JBJ as he can improve his draft stock by going to a better coach who will know how to use him. Sadly, if he went to UK, I think he would have been in the NBA already. Doesn't mean he would have lasted but he would have been drafted 1st round already in my opinion.
  9. I had reservations the very first year due to substitution problems, playing time, and how he treated players making mistakes. I feel like that team should have won a few more games then they did, maybe 8-11 range but I chalked it all up to a rebuild and because of how hard and passionate we played every game that season. The second season showed the same coaching mistakes mentioned in season 1 and felt we under achieved again in the win totals. Also, we didn't play with the same passion as that first season. But by the third season when I saw no progress in the coaching aspects previously mentioned, I knew. Even though we beat Kentucky and most say that was an over achieving season, his coaching deficiencies were still glaring. Then what sent me over the edge was the season we lost to Syracuse. We had the most complete, talented team in the country and should have had the #1 overall seed, but Crean let it slip away at the end of the season through terrible coaching and practicing the team too hard. We should have gotten to the final four at the very least and would have more than likely with a good coach. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  10. I agree, it's the 2nd best weekend behind the first weekend of the NCAA tourney. I just wish the B1G conference tourney would go to the 16 seed format with the 1st and 2nd seeds getting a bye (i.e. 15th and 16th seeds = bye) and the committee putting no weight on the tourneys except the automatic bid for the winner Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  11. Re: Crean - I don't really care where he goes, but the sooner the better and its the only job open right now!
  12. Can Crean go to NC State?
  13. It sounds like he has moved and doesn't have Internet at his new location and can only post when he takes the bus to the nearest public library to log on and post. Which means he could be back at some point I guess but the site is at least bearable now without him and there are some informed posters there. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  14. I can completely agree with what you said. It was just one game and there are many factors at play, just the one thing that jumped out at me was that at one point I really thought I could be watching a current Crean coached game and didn't like that. I will say the execution was better but the style was too familiar. I think he will be a really good coach but not sure if he'll ever win a NCAA championship. He may consistently be in the tourney and make some runs, just not sure he'll get over hump. But, I could be wrong. My list, which can change, currently is as follows: Stevens (reportedly has already said no) Donavon Wright Marshall Few Bennet If it gets past that list then: In no particular order S Miller A Miller F Martin C Holtman C Collins B Drew C Mack Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  15. I watched the Dayton game last night and while it was one game (I'll give it another game or two) I was not impressed. At one point I really thought I was watching a Crean coached game. Offense looked shockingly similar in design. It was better executed than IU normally does but still not thrilled with it. Defense was ok but not spectacular. Overall just seemed marginally better than what we have with a very similar style (which I don't like). Don't get me wrong though, I will take him over Crean but so far he would be down the list. I will watch more games as tournament approaches and give him more of a chance but was not that impressed after one game. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  16. I know this is slightly off topic but I'm worried about HTD. There is only 1 thread started by him now on the main page of that site. I think he might have finally lost it.
  17. Serious question. Can someone please explain to me why everyone seems to be so into Archie Miller? I admit, I have not watched him coach or if I have I do not remember anything about it and I don't hear much about him other than on this site so I am curious as to what it is? Again, serious question, looking for information from those who know more about him.
  18. I don't know any other IU coach who has ever acted that way, absolutely awful................oh wait Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners
  19. I agree that with all that has been said about Stevens, but if you are Glass, you have to make a public plea to Stevens and make him say publicly that he does not want the job, if nothing else, to settle the fan base or they will be calling for your head and speculating on if Stevens was contacted or not. Stevens is a pipe dream, and sounds like he has said no, but you have to make that public push and prove to everyone that you tried. It's the only thing that will get everyone over it at this point. There has never been a more clear cut #1 choice for any hire as much as this one so you have to make the reason it doesn't happen transparent.
  20. Not to mention a Sweet 16 to a Mid Major could be the equivelant of final fours to a major program. I like him because I like the style he plays, he passes the eye test in every game I have watched them play and he constantly is getting the most out of his teams. Personally, I think you put a guy like that in a major program with major talent and he excels big time. He is still my number one choice after the dream candidates.

  22. I think Jones will be just fine, he just needs to settle in and work on his shot. Also, it wouldn't hurt if he was put in better situations than he is. He can't be out their as the 1st or 2nd option at this point. The game hasn't slowed down enough for him yet to be put in that role (partially due to lack of quality playing time, can't get a rhythm only playing in 1-2 minute spurts). He needs to be in with the game with any combination of 2 between, Blackmon, Rojo, Bryant/Davis (both Bryant and Davis can't count as the 2, need at least one of the guards with him) and then let him play for 5-6 minutes at a time (unless he is just completely screwing up). After a minute or two or three and once he settles in and is playing well, you can bring in subs and make him the 2nd option or 1st option if he is playing really well for small spurts to get or keep his confidence up. Again, just goes back to not understanding substitutions at a high level program with 7-10 highly skilled basketball players. Quick tangent, but when you have 7-10 highly skilled basketball players, you have to use them differently then you would if you have 1-3 highly skilled players and a bunch of hustle guys or average college players like you would at a lower level school. You also have to have a feeling for the game and who can do what in certain situations. Tangent over.
  23. Taking a piece of your post. I think this is strictly due to Crean's style and program. Let me explain, I have seen it in multiple freshmen. There are a few exceptions and I have a theory on that as well. First, On Cujo and the freshman slump. I feel that our incoming sharp shooting freshman or at least highly capable shooters in terms of pure shooting ability, are hurt by our strength and conditioning program. When a shooter comes in and is so used to shooting under certain conditions and muscle repetition, once they start adding on muscle mass and conditioning, it throws off that shot for a while. Most High School programs do not have a Strength program anywhere near what college (IU esp.) has and it can be a dramatic change. Then, when you start getting into the heart of the season where your body starts to wear down. Shots start coming up short so you over compensate and then they are off all together and your confidence plummets. Then as a freshman, you don't have a long enough leash to gain that confidence back in game play. We saw it with Hulls, Watford, Yogi, Blackmon, Johnson, and Cujo. They start improving their Sophomore year because they have had all off season to work on their shot with their muscle make up. Some exceptions to this could include OG, Oladipo, Zeller, Vonleigh and others as they were already pretty strong coming in or they developed their shot more so after already adding the "freshman" strength increase. Again, this is just my opinion. Facts may prove me wrong but I've seen it year in and year out.
