  2. Hope you guys haven't got the Fire Fred Glass train rolling to fast. It's gonna hurt when you try to jump of later [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app

  4. That said, that BTB twitter poll had less than 30% support for Crean versus the field, which is a good sign for us extremists. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  5. Yeah, if the boosters are as willing to move with their checkbooks as many have said they are, then it should be no issue. But don't rule out the possibility that we attracted plenty of talent, but none that fit FG's standards. If his standards are aligned with those on this board and his 2015 statement, there isn't a large pool of individuals that are qualified. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  6. Then what was the logic or purpose of your previous post calling him a Crean homer. Honestly, I can stand opposing opinions, but I can't stand it when people can't support that opinion. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  7. Please provide examples of Don Fischer acting as a Crean "homer". You both are ridiculous. Don Fischer is employed by the university and will remain employed at the discretion of the university. If you're looking to hear Crean and Glass put on blast, I recommend looking outside of their pool of coworkers. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  8. If he's brought back, this will be a big poopy smear on the clean sheet of Cottonell double ply representing Fred's career at Indiana. If he brings Crean back, to me, that means FG either isn't ready to get rid of him and may not be as in tune with the fanbase's frustrations with the basketball program, or the right candidates were not available. The latter would make me hesitant to say Glass should be let go. I've seen posters state that the inability to land the top candidates is an indictment on Glass, but I really question the impact an AD has on a potential coaches decision. He's given Crean all the support and freedom to operate independently a coach would want. It comes down to money, timing, and the desirability of the program. If the boosters like the candidate, the money will be there, but timing and fit are things *mostly* out of the AD's control. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  9. Fred Glass knows BTB has a goal of reaching 1,000 pages, and is giving us a fighting chance to make it. This is our fault really. You want to see change? Commit to the goal. Make it a reality. Never seen such selfish behavior in my life... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  10. Posted in the FG thread, but probably more relevant here... If we were sticking with Crean, the AD would act as though everything were business as usual, and not call undue attention to the situation nor give the fans reason to be upset. The fact that we've pulled out of the 2K Classic, passed on an NIT home game, and FG has not given any semblance of a vote of confidence despite the national media reporting Crean interviewing with anything program tells me things aren't business as usual with the basketball program. Change is on the way Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  11. I'm gonna wait till we hear from FG whether Crean is staying or leaving to take a stance on how he's handled this situation. If we are parting ways, I don't find this move to be a big deal. I promise not a single person outside this board will even remember nor care that Indiana passed up an opening round home NIT game, because no one cares about the NIT. Especially if we move on from Crean and hire a new coach. If we're sticking with Crean, I really don't get the decision. If we're sticking with Crean, you would act as though everything were business as usual, and not call undue attention to the situation nor give the fans reason to be upset. The fact that we've both pulled out of the 2K Classic and passed on an NIT home game tells me things aren't business as usual with the basketball program. Change is on the way. 12. No doubt. If he's let go, he's easily one of the top coaches on the market. Look at what he did for Marquette and a shattered Indiana. He's a rebuilder, not a perennial contender. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  13. A bad hire results in three more years of letting the ship sink. Crean would have one more year at most. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  14. Nah. Coming off another near firing, he'll run the B1G, win another title, and beat Kentucky on his way to another Sweet Sixteen lol. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  15. I'm throwing in the towel. I can't keep supplying logic in the face of "but he's the IUBB golden child and will deliver us from evil. Amen." Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  16. A soft landing is important for Indiana and Fred Glass' reputation with future potential coaches. Crean won the B1G Title, B1G Coach of the Year, and went to the Sweet Sixteen last year. Not a great show of support if you start firing coaches after that kind of year. Just a bad look. Doesn't matter what everyone here believes the standard is, or what they believe we deserve. Try to look at it from a third party perspective... Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  17. What's he saying? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  18. That information is all skewed by the different schools they both coached at. KenPom numbers are all adjusted to account for competition. Comparing straight up win-loss records is not going to create an accurate picture. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  19. That KenPom 30/30 rule is the first hurdle. There have been a few other people who have added to it. Things like an NBA first rounder at PG is something I've seen tagged on that fits. Aka, put Marshall at a school with recruiting benefits and let him do what he's always done. Have Bennett, Archie, and Sean met the 30/30 rule? I don't even want to consider a coach who has 10+ years of experience as hasn't done that. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  20. Care to share why Alford is a better coach than Crean? Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  21. Alford has had the same success at a blueblood as Crean, so we should hire him. Got it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  22. This is wrong. Alford has assembled teams that had EITHER a championship level offense or defense, never both. Crean has assembled one team with both while at Indiana. http://kenpom.com/index.php?y=2013 Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  23. Good catch, I took out two years for Mo State just didn't list it. Thanks! Not giving him rebuild years for UCLA. No need to rebuild a program that was the conference champ the year prior. It's just hilarious because UCLA fans have the same complaints about Alford that we have about Crean. They're track records are oddly similar. Very good coaches who have had success at multiple schools and recruit well. Not very impressive records for bluebloods though. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  24. I can't believe I'm still reading arguments for Alford. 1) In what world was he UCLA program Alford inherited broken? Are we talking about the same team that was 25-10 the year prior, and won the PAC 12? Sounds pretty great to me. 2) Steve Alford has assembled exactly ZERO teams that were in both the KenPom top 30 for AjdOffense and AdjDefense. No team since KenPom started tracking in 2002 has won the title without falling in the top 30 for both of those statistics. Crean has assembled only two in the same time period, still more than Alford. Alford's "amazing" team this year is the #3 AdjO, but the #81 AdjD. Watch them fall woefully short in the tournament. Very much like our own teams under Crean, they're an offensive power house and a joke on defense. 3) He has missed the tournament 12 times in 22 years. Give him two "rebuild" years each when he arrived to MO State, Iowa and NM, like we all do with Crean at Indiana, and then how do we explain the other six years where he missed the tournament? 4) His recruiting has been excellent, but look at the variance between his recruiting at a very strong Iowa program in a top conference (Fran has no trouble recruiting) versus at UCLA. Night and day difference. He's definitely assembled, on average, better classes at UCLA than Crean has at IU, but I will argue that UCLA recruits itself possibly better than any elite program in the country. It's Indiana's history, in one of the coolest cities in America, with some of the best weather in the country, and better perks. I also think he'd have success recruiting the state, but if you think Wilkes is an example of how he'd land in-state kids, I suggest looking at Wilkes comments regarding wanting to go to LA for exposure and a better chance at going to the NBA. I think Alford is probably in the same range as Crean as a recruiter. 5) The Pierre Pierce incident at Iowa. It was handled so unprofessionally, the last thing I want at IU is someone without questionable morals or judgement, especially when handling a situation as serious as that. 6) [empty to represent banner #6 that will remain missing for the entirety of Alford's time as Indiana's head coach if he were hired] To those defending Alford as a good hire, please try to address these points. I have seen zero factual evidence as to why he would be a good hire. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
  25. Hatred of Justin Albers has been the one thing that's held this board and community together during these rocky years. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app
