I have a soft spot for NW and personally think it’s an awesome job for the right type of guy. It has a pretty defined ceiling, but no expectations, in a premiere conference. Location, facilities, campus community are all plusses too. I could see that being tough to leave, but with regard to Collins I have no idea if he’s ever had the opportunity to.

This isn’t based off much other than vibes from following IHSA basketball (and mostly the lower two classes at that) but it seems like the number of kids that can get into NW and actually play B1G basketball is extremely low in Illinois. The Martinelli/Ciarvali (I absolutely butchered that) kids are rare. I know that NW doesn’t move off their academic standards much either.

Can’t imagine an 18 year old kid is gonna be trusted with that info. He’ll be on the list of day one calls for the new coach, but he’ll find out who that is when we all do. And in case it needs to be said, that isn’t a knock on anyone.

Are we close to having any current Q1 losses fall to Q2? I feel like the undefeated Q2-Q4 record coupled with that MSU win would be awful pretty on selection Sunday.

Cupps to Dayton has seemed like a terribly kept secret since before Christmas, but I suppose it could have changed. No offense to him, but I won't lose a wink of sleep either way.

I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that this isn't a troll job. That being said, you can say it til you're blue in the face, but not a single person on this site is going to have an open mind about IU hiring Mark Turgeon, and I believe you know that.

You can get some really sensitive refs. I've seen people kicked out of games for some really stupid reasons, but also people that should've been kicked out allowed to stay. In my experience, Illinois refs are way more touchy than those in Indiana at the HS level.

It seems like, thankfully, Hoosiers Connect has really taken over our NIL space. Does anyone know how much HH are even dealing with now that they got shut out of basketball? I'd prefer that to be zero and it kind of seems it's heading that way unless I'm missing something. Between HC and rev share those guys shouldn't be touching a cent of fan to player money.

To your last paragraph, another data point. Every person and sport is different yada yada, but Matt Campbell has stayed at ISU through interest from NFL teams, Michigan, and Notre Dame among others. ISU football historically is probably worse than their basketball, so there’s something about Ames that must be easy to stick around for.
