I think both scenarios are fairly likely. Peavy and Lester are buddies from that Boston team and then like you said the Shields and Maddon connection. I wouldn't be mad either way. Adding Arrietta, the top 3 in the rotation should be pretty nasty.

I know someone extremely connected to the UM football program. They said something along the lines of...Hoke started the season knowing he needed to have a good year and hopefully he would still be around next year, to now he's actually living day-to-day wondering if he's going to get canned. He has no idea, but realizes it could come at any time. This person also said a loss to us would be the nail in his Michigan coffin. He'd be gone Monday. None of that should come as a surprise, just some confirmation that Hoke is in a deep corner.
