  1. Arguments like the one made in the diatribe by catsh*t, mean nothing at this point. Until Crean either gets the sack or takes a walk, he's the coach at IU. IF or when he leaves, it'll be for many reasons:   The AD finally came to his senses. The trustees, never in full possession of any sense, still know what diminishing cash flow means. The Alumni, seeing that Crean's continued employment at IU is senseless, began to throttle back donations The fans, rich in common sense, pointed out that mediocrity at IU is unacceptable.   None of this, by the way, denotes a classless fan base, including teenagers acting like teenagers at a high school basketball game. Classless is poisoning ancient oak trees on your closest rival's campus, like Alabama did to Auburn, or repeatedly throwing the players under the bus to cover up your own shortcomings on the court.
  2. I read an interesting blurb about the coaching vacancy at Alabama today. Of specific interest was this excerpt:   "Alabama disagreed and parted ways with Grant on Sunday. Grant arrived at Alabama with high expectations after his tenure at VCU that saw the Rams upset Duke in the NCAA Tournament in 2007, but those results at the mid-major level didn't carry over to the SEC.   Grant went 117-85 in six seasons at Alabama, reaching the NCAA Tournament once in 2012. The Crimson Tide brought in highly touted prospects during Grant’s tenure but struggled to translate recruiting successes into wins due to off-court issues, transfers or injuries".   Sound familiar at all?
  3. On name alone, the kid would look good in Cream and Crimson. I hope to hell he comes around to thinking the sun sets in Wilson's ass. We need more talent on this team.
  4. You got it Trav!
  5. I honestly don't know a thing about this Thomas Bryant,  but I've watched a bit of tape, and seen some photos of him. He doesn't look to be all that "intimidating". Is it just me or does he look particularly sophomoric? I think if we're hoping he comes to IU as some savior for the team and Tom's job, he'd better come here with jets on his ass and a lot more muscle. But I could be wrong....
  6. Yes, she was. I'll never forget that day as long as I live. If you're old enough to remember the show, this lady was the spitting image of "Maude", including her attire.
  7. I'm still optimistic about the football team. I will again predict that we'll end up in a bowl game this year. Hell, eventually, I have to be right...
  8. This year's basketball team has probably done more to generate IU football fans than anything Wilson and Co. have done the past few years.
  9. Not once have I ever exposed myself at an IU game.
  10. If the players are so thin skinned that they're emotionally shattered upon hearing boos, OR vulgar obscenities, then they're got bigger problems than shoddy play on the court. Ditto for any coach who can't take the heat. Have we really gotten to a point in our society where negative messages and pronouncements must be censored or eliminated; the person fired or banned because those on the other side of an argument are so insecure in their person, so sensitive in their mind that they cannot deal with criticism or fiery debate? I find the same problem in the workplace and in forums like this one. Debate is stifled or stunted when someone, towards whom the offensive post was not even intended, takes exception to it's wording. I worked for a company years ago where we each took up residence in those lovely little things called "cubicles". There was a woman who's cubicle wasn't within 15 feet of mine, but she overheard a private conversation I was having with my wife. I was eventually called in to the office, then HR, because I'd used the word "babe" in a sentence. Over the phone. With my wife! I didn't get written up, but was told to refrain from such language, as "Winifred thought it belittling of women". People really need to grow up, grow a pair, and only worry about opinions when they happen to be the actual recipient of such criticism. Just my opinion.
  11. Nope. Not because I don't think those players are very nice players, but because I've not seen enough of Tom's fingerprints on their development to think it would have make that much of a difference. At some point, Tom's ability to coach and develop talent has to be considered apart from that which one might reasonably expect from private practice and physical development. Best example that comes to mind was years ago, under Lou Henson at Illinois. He'd annually get some of the best talent out of the Chicago school system, and they'd often times, stay there four years, (this was before the advent of the "one and done" player). Four years later, those kids, many of which were burger boys, would be bigger, more physically imposing, and to a degree, fundamentally sound. Still, their overall game never achieved the level of success that everyone projected for them. Henson was legendary for taking four and five star players, and doing very little to develop them talents. I'm afraid Crean is cut out of the same mold, in this regard.
  12. So will his tenure....  :D
  13. The problem I have with this situation is that it perpetuates the illusion/lie that all we need are big men in order for IU to be dominate again. While "yes", getting bigger in the post would be helpful, it assumes that Crean can coach big men or that his basketball philosophy, (I've yet to figure out what the hell that is), is conducive to developing big men or meshing their talents to his game plan. Neither Zeller, nor Vonleh stayed around long enough for us to see what four years of getting coached by Crean would do for their overall game. I thought Zeller was good, not great, and one can debate how much of his development was directly attributable to Crean or his own practice time and weight room work. Vonleh on the other hand, was athletic enough, but raw, and was gone after a year. I just think we're fooling ourselves if we think more talent, or bigger men will compensate for poor coaching and development.
  14. Good sized guard that would be nice to get, but the competition for his services is tough.
  15. Damned, would be nice to land this kid....
  16. Looks like a good kid and would be a good get for us.
  17. I have to agree, that was a brutal comparison.
  18. The sun rising in the east, setting in the west, death, taxes, and Michigan beating us in football. Just a few of life's absolutes.
  19. I've been wondering about the line on this game. I've see everything from us being favored by 6 or 7, to Bowling Green being favored. I'm not sure who's right.
  20. I hope I don't sound like the proverbial wet blanket, but I was unimpressed by IU today. I can find things to like of course, (the rushing game and an occasional outbreak of what passes for defense in Bloomington), but what struck me was the overall lack of crispness to their game. *Sudfield looked lost out there and held on to the ball for what seemed an eternity *Conversely, Sycamore QB Paris, working with a fraction of the talent, looked poised and in control. *The offensive line, supposedly this team's major strength, too often looked weak and ineffective against a very average Sycamore defense. Could we really not convert a fourth down against this team??? *The Sycamore wide receivers were open far more than ours were today. Think about that one for a moment. *We'll dearly miss Ewald this year I hope the reason for such a insipid showing was because Wilson was trying to not show the full game plan until needed, (Bowling Green, Missouri, etc). If this is truly where IU's game is at this point in time, it'll be a long, long season.
  21.   I'm sorry to hear that your wife is not well. Prayers your way.
  22. Wish I could be there, but living in Minnesota makes it a bit of a drive. One day though....
  23. The kid sure does look like his dad, but doesn't look like he's 6'-2". I hope he has a cannon for an arm.
  24. Welcome Titus! We look forward to cheering your efforts in the Cream and Crimson!
