I can't wait for this game. This is gonna be a battle of two heavyweights. This will be a good super early season measuring stick to see where IU compares to the paper favorites. If you read Brandon Ingram's NBA declaration letter, Coach K promises nothing. Duke begged him to stay and Thornton couldn't take the heat of Jackson coming in. Sure it's a messy situation and both parties may be at fault but it's not like they buried him on the bench. He averaged 26 minutes a game with plenty of starts and didn't live up to the hype. They did the same thing to Quinn Cook when they brought in Tyus Jones and look what happened to Quinn. He bought in and had a ridiculous senior year and was a huge factor leadership wise in winning a title. I know everyone wants to blame K but no one forced Derryck out. This was he and his family's decision.

It's interesting. He also played 26 minutes a game as a freshman. He had plenty of opportunities. Played timid. He gave them every reason to go out and get someone else. Sure I'm biased but something doesn't add up.

I think Thornton will be a bigger loss than people think but it does free up the scholly needed to get Marques Bolden who I think will be a Dukie within a week.

Bet he ends up at UNLV. Wants to be somewhere closer to home.
