IUBB vs Michigan - 01/23/22 @ 3:30 on CBS
chicagoHOOSIER replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
This thread is not showing up on my Indiana Basketball front page. I have to go through my notifications to find it for some reason. I am guessing this has happened before so this is probably an easy fix. Thx. -

Hoping we do not see a home court letdown after the big win. Everybody with a tongue has been in the team's ears about how great they are since Thursday, and much of the team including the biggest stars might believe they are greater than they actually are and think they don't have to try because of their undisputed greatness. I hope our guys can overcome the pride they well deserve after a big win, and put all the talk and adulation they have received in perspective. Much of this group has gone on long winless streaks every year they have played college basketball, and they have experienced many letdowns in their careers. I would love to see more and more improvement every game the way college basketball teams are supposed to improve over the course of a season. We have not really seen a lot of improvement in Indiana teams throughout the course of seasons in a long time. Indiana teams seem to have regressed through the course of seasons and underperformed for what seems like quite a long time now. It would be great if the team comes out and plays as well as they can tomorrow. -
Hahaha it makes for some very interesting outside-of-the-box considerations, and without shaking things up completely it would be difficult to discover revolutionary concepts that might actually work. The food for thought is much appreciated. I did want to riff on Kaulie a little in the hope of a good natured laugh because the opportunity seemed there for the taking hehe. Thx for asking Brum to run it. Can't wait to see what we learn from this. Maybe we are on to something really big this time.

Just for conversation sake, how does this lineup differ from your favorite 2021-22 'all-the-hotties-on-the-floor-at-the-same-time' lineup? And if your 'all hottie' lineup turns out to be a little different from this offering, could we please put your 'all hottie' lineup in the simulator too, just to be sure we dot all the i's and cross all the t's? This is pretty important business.

I hope the addition by subtracting Stephen Bardo from the equation is not the only positive aspect of this game for IU. We need a win now! -

Even with the odds against IU losing this one, this one seems entirely losable. That said, if IU loses this one on the road we should all be thoroughly prepared to really cr@p our pants good this time, am I right? -
Mike Woodson to be next IUBB coach. Thad Matta to be associate AD

OT but don't ya hate it when you look at a statue of an icon who always seemed like sort of an old man to you growing up until you reach an age when the icon begins to appear young to you? It really hits when a guy like Abe Lincoln begins to look like sort of a younger guy to you. If you are not there yet, wait, and I guess hope you live to see the day! And if you can relate, it is not so bad to know it could be worse, assuming it is worse to never live to know the feeling! Ah, the blessings..., and the wisdom it takes to ponder such high thoughts lol. -
(2022) - PF Kaleb Banks to Tulane
chicagoHOOSIER replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
So probably going to take the usual strength/conditioning buildup to bring Banks up to the strength/skill level needed to become a difference maker on the floor in the Big 10. -
It can get really predictably annoying to the nth degree to read the "fire woodson," "fie on x, and y, and z too while we are at it," "we'll never amount to anything good" posts that follow every loss. It's almost like a fan team exercise now to become hyperbolically negative after IU losses and to compete with other IU fans to see who can be the most consistently and/or creatively negative fan, sometimes even just repeating the same negative points over and over like unpaid negative campaign ads in loops lol. Some posts appear to be arbitrarily cut and pasted into threads both randomly and also with carefully deliberate purpose as well hahaha. I'm not even sure if many of these posts are a sickness or a cure, or both, or neither anymore. Thanks for bringing this point up. I think the point is worth pondering at times, especially in the third week of January when months of lack of proper levels of natural sunlight can take their toll on the psyche of even the mentally strongest of fans in the community of fans lol.

So, to put Banks in terms IU fans could understand, would it be right to say Banks is Watfordlike with Watford type expectations? Or would that be giving Banks' shot too much credit? Obviously Banks and Watford are not the same two people simply separated by 10ish years age alone. Is Banks a guy who could step in as a freshman and make a difference for an IU team most likely losing TJD after this year's season is over? What if Race Thompson stays? Could Indiana actually field a competitive front court in the Big 10 anchored by Race and Geronimo with Duncomb and Banks backing up in underclassmen roles? Minus Jackson-Davis and Thompson, would IU's front court become nearly unanimous picks to become one of the worst front court units in the league next year? Eager for comparisons, is Banks Derrick Elston 2.0? -

2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection
chicagoHOOSIER replied to Five Prime's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Everybody is entitled to an opinion and a forum to voice those opinions, and I come to this message board to hear those opinions just like everybody else does. I have noticed though that often some opinions with not a lot of solid information behind them are sometimes voiced repeatedly by growing numbers of posters, even as the possibility exists that sometimes opinions can become almost fact-like in groups sometimes due to repetition of posts declaring opinions strongly, and one opinion we hear a lot here in decisive tones seems to revolve around a thought process that everybody at IU who can get out, is leaving as fast as they can before next year gets here. It's a popular thought. I understand some of the logic behind guessing things are going to work out that way, and just wonder how much of those opinions are based in thought backed by solid evidence. It seems to me that some if not most or even all of the players available to play for IU again next year could serve themselves well by taking another opportunity to play basketball here next year. -

Curious to know what solid information you would be basing that statement on and maybe ask you for a predicted degree of accuracy because that is a very substantial prediction to make, and some of us far away in the cheap seats of the peanut gallery depend on you insiders for nuggets of insight into the players and the program. -
Best I can do off the top of my head is maybe a song by a pretty great 90's band that sums it up pretty well. Maybe a meme can be found in the official video? Poor weather fans probably love Stephen Bardo, so maybe some meme quality representation exists in the Stephen Bardo BTN cheering of the Trey Galloway destruction that put Galloway on the shelf for months. Until then, just for good natured fun and not promoting hate of any kind, here's Garbage with Only Happy When it Rains to rain some awesome misery on your Monday before this Monday is gone forever.

I would be willing to go out on a limb and say the bad weather fan is a notch below even the fair weather fan lol. How would you reply to that statement?
