IUBB - 2020 Off-Season News
IUc2016 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
another note on the video, it seemed that Archie indicated IU would try to play a game before they went to asheville for the "Maui Invitational". Will be interesting as the season opens up November 25th which is only 5 days before the tournament starts. -
IUBB - 2020 Off-Season News
IUc2016 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Virtual Media Day has started. Here is a video of Archie, really really in depth discussion on Jerome Hunter. https://www.insidethehall.com/2020/10/13/video-archie-miller-media-day-press-conference/ -
but but Christopher holtmann...

https://www.insidethehall.com/2020/10/13/indiana-picked-to-finish-8th-in-big-ten-by-blue-ribbon-college-basketball-yearbook/ Some locker room material. Picked to finish 8th in the BIG, behind Minnesota.

12 days left of the offseason (fingers crossed). We have a start date/time for IU and Penn State. October 24th at 3:30 on FS1! Go Hoosiers.

(2022) PG Bruce Thornton
IUc2016 replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
This will be interesting, battling Purdue and Tom Crean for a recruit. It will be painful to lose him to either of those other two -
I agree on Al. I could see the staff telling him it is time to move on but keeping Joey to help the frontcourt depth. Here's to hoping Trey Kaufman decides to be a Hoosier.
-
Dude looks like Crean acts like Bobby Knight.
-
I don't love it either, will be interesting to see how teams handle it. One situation down the road it could really help IU is if Rob phinisee were to come back for a fifth year. After next year IU is most likely to lose both he and Lander, but if he were to come back in 2022-23 that would fill the gap until another pg is ready to take over.

IUBB Record and Player Predictions for 2020-2021
IUc2016 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I really hope Race stays healthy because I feel like you are spot on if that happens. I feel like this team would have won a few more games each of the past two years if injuries did not derail his development. -
IUBB Record and Player Predictions for 2020-2021
IUc2016 replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Non-conference record: 5-2 Conference Record: 12-8 BIG Finish: 5th Surprise Player: Rob Phinisee. He is healthy, experienced, and now has a more talented player ready to take his minutes. I think he rises to the occasion and makes us remember why we believed he was the future PG of this program. Disappointing Player: *Could also be Rob but I sure hope not. I will go with Al. I like Al, but I feel like he is what he is and for this program to take the next step it needs more talent out of its starting senior guards. he is not able to take the game over which is a necessity from those top guards you see around the country that lead teams on deep NCAA runs. Other Predictions: We will be glad Justin Smith left. -
https://247sports.com/college/indiana/Article/Indiana-to-open-against-Providence-in-Maui-Invitational-152566723/ Here's a link to the article about the Maui bracket. I know that OF's link goes to the 247 NCAA bracket predictions.
-
Providence is expected to be pretty decent with quite a bit of experience returning. Bart Torvik has them ranked #31 on his website.
-
SIAP, but expected that NCAA gives additional year of eligibility to winter sports like they did with fall sports. Thoughts on whether this is a good thing for IU in particular or no? two notable players that would have the option for another year are Joey Brunk and Al Durham. Would you want to take another year of either/both of them? Joey would help the frontcourt issue slightly imo.
-
According to Rothstein, Seth Towns (Ohio State) has not been fully cleared to play yet due to his knee injury. Will be interesting to see if/when he does because that team needs him to be healthy and good.

Inside the Hall's 1-5 top players in the BIG. https://www.insidethehall.com/2020/10/02/big-tens-top-25-players-for-2020-21-5-1/ 5. Franz Wagner 4. Kofi Cockburn 3. TJD 2. Ayo 1. Garza Stuhoo was correct! only one I think someone could have issue with is Franz.
-
Yeah if not that order, those are they 5
-
I think Micah Potter was the reason they won the BIG last year. Before he was eligible they were a bad team, but once he started playing and they got some game reps with him they were a totally different team.
-
here's 6-10 of Inside the Hall's top 25 players in the Big. https://www.insidethehall.com/2020/10/01/big-tens-top-25-players-for-2020-21-10-6/ 10. Joe Weiskamp 9. Aaron Henry 8. Isaiah Livers 7. Trevion Williams 6. Micah Potter I was wrong about Livers being in the top 5. Guessing that instead it will be Franz Wagner. Not sure I agree with him being top 5, but there is a Michigan writer apart of this so I think that had something to do with it.
-
Agreed with top 2. I think Tjd, Kofi, and Livers round out the top 5 and Tre Williams following right behind
-
here's 11-15 of Inside the Hall's top 25 players in the Big. https://www.insidethehall.com/2020/09/30/big-tens-top-25-players-for-2020-21-15-11/ 15. Ron Harper Jr. 14. Joey Hauser 13. Rocket Watts 12. Nate Reuvers 11. Marcus Carr All in all I agree with this list so far. What is interesting are the two MSU players back-back that have yet to be the focal point of a team but are expected to carry MSU this year. Will be interesting to see where TJD lands, I would guess 3-5.

SEC to play normal 18 game conference schedule starting at end of December. https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/sec-basketball-schedule-2020-21-conference-announces-league-play-to-start-in-december/

Here's 16-20 of Inside the Hall's top 25 players in the Big. https://www.insidethehall.com/2020/09/29/big-tens-top-25-players-for-2020-21-20-16/ 20. Justice Sueing 19. Eric Hunter 18. Geo Baker 17. D'mitrik Trice 16. Myreon Jones Tough seeing Eric Hunter on this list and no Rob Phinisee (doubt he makes top 15) as Rob had the much better freshman year but Hunter had the sophomore year most of us hoped Rob would have.
-
That is good to hear. I am worried about the schedule not allowing for any postponements so hopefully the university as a whole can keep the cases under control so the football team has a better chance of playing all its games.

yes everyone gets a free year
