  1. This team wouldn't be that bad if they played in the late 70s through the mid 80s. Teams spurt while we sputter. Why do our freshmen, although really talented, look bad compared to others? We don't have a system, culture, leadership, etc. that is conducive to freshmen producing.
  2. Because we gave up straight line drives second half of Iowa and the entire NW game. We can't stay in front of everyone because...? Athleticism? Want to? Know how? Something
  3. I hate that we play decent for a stretch and then teams hit us with a quick run to take the lead. That's tough.
  4. Over helping and leaving shooters open from deep against this team? That's certainly an interesting strategy.
  5. This is the matchup that worries me too. He slots right in between our defenders. JG would be the ideal candidate to guard him if he was defending at a high level. Unfortunately, I feel we're going to see him dropping buckets on Gallo, Kopp, and possibly Bates.
  6. I really hope PSU isn't hitting from deep. If they're on I'm not sure we could defend well enough to make an impact. We need to take care of the ball on top of continuing to hit shots.
  7. Crazy night of basketball - Two Big 1.o road wins - Oklahoma competed in the Phog
  8. I guess this is the de facto ranting place? Something that makes you go hmmm..."The Journey" commercial Trayce mentions something about this being his last year before having to grow up Edey mentions something about becoming the best player he can be I get that these are just small snippets of the entire episode they pull for the commercial. However, it's interesting to get a little of their thoughts and to see what portion they chose to air for a commercial for each individual.
  9. Wait, let's back up a second. Did Miller Kopp just tell someone they have a lazy looking eye on social media?
  10. Does this surprise anyone?
  11. Can't go wrong with Lennie's although ownership changed recently(ish) I don't know if Btown has upscale bars? Nicks, Upstairs, the Vid (townie bar), Bluebird, KoK,
  12. I guess the dude that was all mad at TJD should have just sat him down to explain why he was mad or teach him how he could avoid those situations? That makes little sense. Hopefully, a coach sat TJD down long before that letter was ever opened and had that discussion. I've always been ultra competitive but I understand what I discuss with friends or type on a message board has little to do with this team winning or losing. I do care about this team winning or losing but there are plenty of other factors that go into it. Playing the game the right way, preparing the right way, setting yourself up for success, and so many other factors decide whether you're going to win or lose. The crazy thing is if you learn those habits through a sport you enjoy playing while getting you school paid for, getting an education, AND getting paid you're setup for life.
  13. I'm sure some fans do a lot more than just sit on their butts watching the players put in work. I know Josh and Nips are getting a great workout dodging hurricanes down there in Florida. Too soon, fellas?
  14. I hope the coaches are teaching these young men it's not just about the sport or winning and losing. Adversity is an excellent time to build character.
  15. Research on that? I never mentioned anything about intelligence or what they perceive their intelligence to be. Hell, sometimes when you get the disruptor personality with lower intelligence you get better results. It's amazing how often you get into a habit because it's what is comfortable. When that lower IQ disuptor comes along and starts questioning almost everything you become much more efficient or better at what you should be. Of course, it depends on if you're looking to get better or you're happy with the status quo.
  16. Huh? Where are you getting this from?
  17. Sometimes you need a disruptor mentally on your team, staff, place of work, or message board. It can be a hell of a ride but oftentimes the end result is much better than anticipated. I guess the status quo is okay for many.
  18. Less than a week!! That's freaking amazing. Quick response by professionals and modern medicine is crazy.
  19. This core group has won just enough. They're not extremely limited talent wise like the first Crean years. They have won just enough we could blame it on coaches why they didn't win enough. We could blame it on officials for getting just one or two calls wrong that would screw us out of a game. We could blame it on being young or just a few lapses in concentration that we got beat. We beat ourselves in the offseason when the foundation is set. We beat ourselves when we didn't hold ourselves accountable. We beat ourselves when we didn't improve our current skills or develop new ones. We beat ourselves when we didn't hold ourselves accountable. We beat ourselves when we didn't show the newcomers what it takes to be great. We beat ourselves when we were competing against last seasons version and each other. It feels like this group just doesn't want to be hated. This group doesn't have a great deal of competitiveness. This isn't intended to knock any current player or coach. It takes all kinds in this world. I'm sure they put in time during the offseason but I do question at what level and how focused. I'm sure they're competitive but to what degree? It's easy to look busy but it's hard to hold yourself and others accountable, to truly put in the work to get better, and then perform at that raised level of expectations. We're not there. I'm sure Woody knows what it takes but can he get others to not only understand it but to live it?
  20. I hope nobody gets offended by going back and forth on a message board. We all want the same thing but have different thoughts on how to get there. That doesn't make anyone wrong, a bad person, or not a fan. It's just a different perspective from someone who has had different experiences as an IU fan. I have a different experience with IU athletics and the university than others on here. Where I am coming from can vary a little to a lot different when compared to others on this board. It's part of what makes it fun and it would be extremely boring if everyone agreed with everything. *Nothing I post is meant as an attack on an individual or their character, including anything mentioned about players and coaches. On a personal note, while I'm sure we have vastly different beliefs, best of luck on strengthening your faith and your personal journey to becoming a better version of yourself. *This doesn't include Alaska or Josh. Screw those dudes and their dumb posts.
  21. It's about pride. It starts with individual pride and carries over to team/program pride. It's fantastic to have individual pride, it appears that is what Cupps with be starting with at a minimum, and translates to team pride. I don't know what the culture will be at Indiana when he reaches campus. He could come in with all the dog in him that could be asked for but without a team/program willing to accept it we won't move forward much.
  22. A possible consequence of this is the younger players believing this is an acceptable way. Those players continue doing what they saw the older players doing and the cycle doesn't get broken of what is acceptable vs. unacceptable. Hulls, VJIII, Watford, Oladipo and that group worked their @$$ off to develop individually and as a team to get better. They addressed weaknesses in the offseason and were hungry for success. It showed. I don't get that from this group. I thought we'd be better than last season from adding pieces and a year of maturity. I believe we are more talented but not sure from a team perspective. The team from last season had a difficult time scoring but against our current defense we might make Phinisee look like an offensive juggernaut.
  23. Amen, a former supervisor had a great analogy. Be a duck. The meaning is show to the outside world you are moving in the right direction while behind the scenes you're putting in that hard work. I get almost the complete opposite vibe from this team and program. I do love the e and e XJ typically brings to the team though.
  24. Saw him in high school against a more talented and bigger team. Dude didn’t back down and fought the whole time. I believe he went for 40+ and kept them in it. If his passion and competitiveness translates to his players he’ll be a great one.
