  3. Gonzaga beat Merrimack 80-55 but I heard it wasn't the cakewalk the final score would indicate. 42-31 at the half. Gonzaga had 17 turnovers to 8 for Merrimack. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game/_/gameId/401371287
  4. Indiana 74 Bob-a-Needle's Lover 59 (young people won't get this one but Chubby Checker fans will)

  12. Of course it was a bit much. Who'd believe our defense would give up 87 to this team?
  13. I think we have a good shot at winning it, but realistically I see: 1. Michigan 2. PU 3. IU 4. OSU 5. Maryland 6. MSU 7. Illinois 8. Rutgers (top 8 will get NCAA bids IMO). 9. Iowa 10. Nebraska 11. Wisconsin 12. NW 13. Minnesota 14. PSU With Ayo gone, I just don't see Illinois as the dazzling team a lot of people are predicting. I mentioned on YouTube I expected the Illini to compete against MSU for sixth place in the B1G and was told, "You're insane." We'll see. I've been called that before and it's never stuck.
  14. Hallelujah! I don't have to re-subscribe to Hulu just to get BTN and pay $65 a month. Comcast Atlanta has decided to offer BTN in a package for $10 a month.
  15. While I have no details about what goes on in practice, some of the things I've heard Woodson (and others on the coaching staff) say are encouraging to me. For example, I've heard the phrase "player development" repeatedly since Woodson was hired. In all of Archie's tenure, I don't remember ever hearing that phrase applied to IU basketball. Woody has also said, "It's my job to help him succeed," when he's talked about the potential of Geronimo, the evolution of TJD (and others). He's also talked about it being "my job to put them into a spot where they can succeed" when mentioning Kopp and Stewart on their 3-point shooting. We NEVER heard similar jargon in the Miller era. AND the players' lack of improvement individually the past four years reinforces the idea we have not had any priorities on "player development." Franklin and Thompson may have improved, but I suspect their individual efforts are more to thank for that than any individual improvement plans the previous regime might have offered. How much individual improvement did anyone else see in the rest of the roster? I saw very little. That's why I'm so encouraged by how much we're hearing about it now.
  16. fWish I could say I'll miss him. But I won't.
  17. Tough call. I think the best COLLEGE basketball player we ever had was Scott May. Note I qualify that with "college," not wanting to riddle anyone who might think I'm slighting Isaiah or a handful of others who belong in the conversation. My favorite is a toss-up between Steve Alford and Calbert Cheaney. If the coin ever lands, I'll let you know which one won the toss.
  18. Something to remember: in South Carolina basketball is just something to watch after football season is over. Indiana's passion for basketball netted us guys like Al Durham and Jordan Geronimo, both of whom were overwhelmed with how popular basketball was in our state. I live in the South (Atlanta) and I can tell you that well over 90% of sports talk here is football even when it's not football season. All of his other destinations are first-and-foremost football schools, Alabama's recent basketball success notwithstanding.
  19. Anyone know if Noah is related to Jadeveon Clowney, the first pick in the NFL draft a few years ago? He was also from South Carolina, but not the same city (Rock Hill).
  20. Tom Brew posted on SI today about Hoosiers swimming with the dolphins yesterday. A video was supposedly in the article, but my computer could not get it. Anyone else have a link to that video? Thanks in advance.
