I'd love it if turns out that way, but this is the first I've heard of this "rule." But I plead that Mallory (I think that was his name) didn't play for Maryland against us but did against The NotGoodgers, so I plead the addition of yet another factor. That said, I think we have a team with enough defense to make any game close, but I just have trouble picking us to win in a facility we haven't won in since the last millennium. Before this season's practice began, I felt pretty sure that Galloway and Geronimo would be the last two guys at the end of the bench. Wow, what a pleasant surprise I've seen from those two. I've heard a lot of comparisons of Geronimo to Anonoby. I think Oladipo might be a better comparison. Although he shouldn't have taken that second three at that point in the shot clock. Galloway is contributing far more than I could have foreseen. It would not have surprised me to see him red-shirted (of course not now). Am a little surprised that Leal is the last guy off the bench now. But I think he has all the tools to be an outstanding Big Ten player.

With regard to a transfer, I'd just like to see us pick up someone capable of guarding Garza or other B1G big guys if Trayce, Race and Brunk are all on the bench with fouls or injuries. To me that's the only hole Justin's departure left us. Thompson's defense was really good down the stretch so I don't think we'll miss Smith on defense as much as some think. And I expect a breakout year from Franklin despite the fact that everyone's relegating him to less PT because of Lander. He showed he wasn't awestruck by playing in the best conference in college basketball. I believe now we'll see him start nailing his shots with regularity.

11 seed means it takes 5 games in 5 days to win the tournament. I don't favor those odds, although of all the teams in the conference we might be the team most able to handle that with our depth. It's still daunting. I'd far rather have the 10 seed and skip the first night. On the plus side, a chance to add another win (even a Quad 3) against Nebraska or Northwestern can't hurt our NCAA tournament resume.

Sadly, unless Purdue loses at home, we play on Wednesday no matter what we do.
