Remember it when promptly resulted in turnover?

It was pretty close much of the game, but Wisconsin took over the last 7 minutes or so. -
Hey, he had a brilliant play coming out of the timeout. You know, the one where Anunoby dribbled to the corner in no man's land, then passed to Bryant on the perimeter with the shot clock winding down? Wait, did I say brilliant? I meant expected.

The rest are his patented half court sets, including: Dribble the air out, pass, chuck a 3. Dribble the air out, pass, turnover. Dribble the air out, pass, dribble the air out, force a stupid shot (probably from 3). And everyone's favorite; dribble straight to the baseline, jump, and pray it doesn't go the other way. -
You can't blame the players when it's the same crap every year.

At it's best it's glorified AAU ball. At it's worst it's stomach churning.

Hey, Crean called a timeout sooner than I expected. Only 3 points too late instead of 5-10. -
The coaches I'd classify as a sure "home run" are both in the NBA right now. I agree there are current college coaches that could do just as well or better than Crean when you factor in the resources IU has. I'd throw in Gregg Marshall as someone that I think could do just as well or better, he's won consistently everywhere he's been and has never had the resources Crean has currently.
-
The coaches we'd all want will never be 'available' in the sense that they're waiting by the phone waiting for a program to call, they'll almost certainly already be a coach somewhere. We have to be willing to take the chance that they'd make a move, not assume they wouldn't come here, that's where back channels come in.

Bad coach? No. Mediocre coach? Abso friggin' lutely. I would've given him the next season, although missing the NIT with 2 McDs AAs should be inexcusable. After that team completely refused to play even a semblance of defense I would've given him the boot.

Fixed. Apathy has already started.

Maybe Cal still has the number for the guy that took Derrick Rose's ACT for him. That'd be one test taker. Someone had to have taken Eric Bledsoe's ACT, so there's two. We all know there's no way he took his own.

Best comment was some poster saying it isn't a third rate school. They used proper spelling so perhaps pUKe has advanced from clown college to a low level community college? I still remember on the Scout board a pUKe fan went on there and said "they're here to win games, not win tests".

Not too at home for Nebraska apparently though....

Those are correctable. The same problems have existed since Crean has been here though, so I have a hard time seeing that it's going to change. -

Louisville missed a lot of good looks and some bunnies as well, so I kind of think that evens out. If Louisville hit some of their good looks early on that game could've been double digits a lot earlier than it was. We rely too much on the 3. If changes aren't made to the offense to become less so, which won't happen, then these games will happen. -
Changes needed to the basketball team other than

An offense that isn't just street ball. Part of a coach's job is to adjust to what he has. Hey, I didn't say fire the coach. -

Please tell me he did not say that.... Sadly, it sounds plausible. -

Maybe he'll break out the "lights were too bright" or "bench wasn't loud enough" crap again. -
Davis actually goes to the post, where Bryant wants to set up camp on the perimeter. That's a plus.
-
I think you're being a bit generous. I do think his whining and pouting has doubled though.

Neither should a loss to IPFW. My expectations with Crean are pretty low, but not that low. That one Final Four isn't his true coaching caliber, but neither is missing the NCAA tournament with 2 McDs AAs (still can't believe he managed that one....). He's somewhere in between. Problem is we're paying for a Final Four caliber coach because Crean could sell ice to an eskimo.
-
This team would have to absolutely collapse to miss the tournament. If that happened Crean should be fired on the spot. That won't happen.

IU has missed some good looks, but so has Louisville. -
Let's also petition the NCAA to only allow the likes of Houston Baptist and Delaware State into the NCAA tournament. Might get past the Sweet 16.
