Thigpen had a solid season in 2013, but he couldn’t match what he did the previous year when he ranked among the NFL leaders in both punt and kickoff return average and became the first player in Dolphins history to score a touchdown both ways in the same season.

  9. Ouch!   Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Fred Glass announced today that he has accepted the resignation of Curt Miller as IU's head women's basketball coach. While stepping down as head coach effective immediately, Coach Miller will take until the end of the month to fully transition out of the University.   "Curt Miller did an incredible job coaching this team, bringing us farther, faster than anyone could have reasonably expected," Glass said. "He leaves the program in a very strong position and poised for much greater success. I respect his decision to resign, and I wish him well. The search for a permanent successor has already begun."   Miller and Glass met with the women's basketball team and available staff this morning to tell them about the resignation and plans for the future. Glass said he will ask the new head coach to consider retaining the current assistant coaches, but doing so will be his or her decision. Glass expects all other women's basketball staff members to stay.   Until a new head coach is hired, Associate Head Coach Curtis Lloyd will serve as Interim Head Coach. In addition, Glass has organized a transition team to help oversee the women's basketball program comprised of: Associate Athletic Director and Senior Women Administrator Mattie White (Chair), Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications and Fan Experience Jeremy Gray, Assistant Athletic Trainer Robert Black, Assistant Athletic Director for Strength and Conditioning/Performance Tom Morris, Director of Academic Services Lorian Price, Assistant Director of Media Relations Ryan Sheets, and Director of Women's Basketball Operations Liz Honegger.   Glass will personally lead the search for IU's next head women's basketball coach with the counsel and support of advisors inside and outside the athletic department, including a student-athlete from the women's basketball team.   As the Department begins a formal search for a new head coach, Indiana University will have no further comment on this matter.    http://www.iuhoosiers.com/sports/w-baskbl/spec-rel/072514aab.html
  10. Perry Schaible‏@Local12Perry Checking in w/ Larry Black Jr. as he joins the @Bengals at training camp. He used the time off to train at one of his favorite local spots. http://www.local12.com/news/features/top-stories/stories/larry-black-jr-tries-make-impression-hometown-bengals-15061.shtml?wap=0   Some of the players are already on the team, while others are still trying to stand out. Larry Black Jr.'s dream of playing in the NFL almost ended as quickly as it started.   A devastating injury during an off-season workout last year kept him on the sidelines. A motivational speaker once said, "You seldom, if ever, get lucky sitting down." For Larry Black Jr., it's a mantra he can live by.   "I definitely feel like I'm 100 percent for sure," said Black. He's ready to run. Months after battling back from a broken fibula his NFL dreams are back on track.    Beginning Thursday, Black will be back on the practice field at Paul Brown Stadium with his teammates, this time for training camp. It's a physical, mental and emotional battle.

  13. Steve Wiltfong @SWiltfong247  Looking like a #BigTen battle for Carmel (IN) High ATH Isaac James who heads to #Northwestern tomorrow http://northwestern.247sports.com/Article/Big-Ten-Battle-For-Isaac-James-29807864 … #Badgers #IUFB   This will be the first time the 5-foot-11 ½, 180-pound James will visit the Wildcats campus since being offered back in May.   James doesn’t have an exact timetable for a college season and hasn’t completely narrowed his list of offers, but Indiana and Wisconsin are two other programs he knows he’ll have a tough time saying no to.   The Hoosiers were first to offer James and he’s been to campus many times including this spring and summer.   “Just being so close, it’s just easy to get down there, even for a Friday junior day or anything spontaneous, it’s easy to get down there, and it’s not that far as opposed to if I wanted to go to West Point, I’d have to plan that out in advance. Everything with IU is spontaneous and it gives me an opportunity to go there more often because it’s close physically and it helps on an emotional level for the staff to be so close.” James still hasn’t been to Wisconsin but wants to get there soon.   James was the Sparq champion at April's Chicago Nike Football Training Camp, posting a 4.40 40-yard dash, 4.25 shuttle, 36.1 vertical and a 37 ½ power ball. Other offers include Army, Navy, Illinois and Missouri.
  14. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/football-insider/wp/2014/07/23/cornerbacks-richard-crawford-tracy-porter-cleared-to-practice/   RICHMOND — After spending the offseason working their way back into form following surgical procedures, cornerbacks Richard Crawford and Tracy Porter received clearance Wednesday to practice when the Redskins open training camp Thursday, Coach Jay Gruden said.   Porter, a free agent signing in the spring, had surgery to repair a torn labrum. While their teammates went through offseason practices, both cornerbacks worked on the side with trainers to further strengthen their surgically-repaired limbs.   Now fully healthy, they will compete for playing time behind starters DeAngelo Hall and David Amerson. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett and secondary coach Raheem Morris must identify their top nickel back this preseason and settle on a depth chart at cornerback. Washington signed Porter with plans of using the former Raider and Saint at nickel back.

  18. Yeah, he's probably all Cuse. That will be one heck of a class for them if it happens. Fulford was his coach at Huntington Prep before he took the Mizzou job. He recently told Jeff Borzello of CBSSports.com that he would take official visits to Syracuse, Ohio State, Kansas and Missouri.   "He said Syracuse is still on the top of his list,'' Linda Bryant added. "That's what he told me.'' Linda Bryant said her son wants to take the NCAA's five allotted official campus visits. "Syracuse is one,'' she said. "He hasn't told me the other four.''
