Whatever Dolson said in Woodson's introductory press conference can be completely disregarded in the context of this coaching search. 1) Winning the opening press conference matters; you’re trying to project confidence, excitement, a bold vision, etc.; even if your new coach is Winnie the Pooh, you’re gonna do everything you can to spin it as best as possible 2) Dolson is not the same guy he was in 2021 when he hired Woodson and gave Tom Allen a massive extension. It’s fairly common knowledge at this point that Woodson was not his choice. But he didn’t have the leverage then to dictate that decision to the power brokers in charge. The fact that he was able to not only get rid of Woodson, but do so mid-season, tells us a lot.

Galen isn’t the most plugged in person in the world, but when he weighs in on something like this, it’s because he has good reason to believe what he’s saying is true. He most certainly has friends in the athletic department, and I know for a fact that he knows much more of what’s going on behind the scenes than he lets on, though he does drop hints every now and then if you pay attention. This is not a hint though. This is a bold claim. I like it.

I have reason to believe Brownell is firmly outside the top candidate pool. But I could be wrong. Like I said, no one *really* knows anything.

Let’s face it, Trilly has had zero “intel” on this coaching search aside from what others have reported. His “list” is basically just Rabjohns’ hot board. Rabjohns himself admitted that he sometimes puts messages out there from certain individuals as a favor. And we know from Goodman’s track record that he’s tweeted several times and been wrong about coaching candidates. Bozich gets things right more often than not but he’s prone to jump the gun on info. I am not saying everyone else is wrong and I am right. I’m just saying people know far less than they think they know. This is the most tight-lipped coaching search I’ve ever been around. And I still think we ultimately end up with a guy that is currently on nobody’s radar. I won’t venture a guess who that is because I legitimately do not know, but that’s what my gut is telling me based on what I’ve heard.

Based on what I’m hearing, Brownell, Collins, McDermott, and Williams are not serious candidates at the moment. And there are other guys in play. Right now I’d take the field over McCollum or anyone else that’s been named.

Some folks just want something to complain about. Apparently winning 11 games has now raised the expectations to such a level that every subsequent season will now be seen as a disappointment to these fans.

Watching UConn and Villanova because I hate myself apparently, and still am not over missing out on McNeeley. Kid is a flat out baller, not just super skilled but his effort level and workmanlike approach to the game is so desperately needed at a program like Indiana. We’re gonna regret the Woodson hire for a long time, I think.
