NBA reporter mostly for ESPN. @ShamsCharania

Bozich admitted it was a wide net he was hearing and using that to guess (more educated then most) . But his data is stale according to what we've heard since. Not buying Brownell.... Tweetfrom yesterday: @rickbozich · Mar 14 Looks like Hawkeyes moved quickly so they can secure Ben McCollum on Drake. Another reason I had Brad Brownell first on my #IUBB list this morning.

Yeah I deposited $50 - what I planned on betting- so put $45 on a parlay of Creighton and Maryland- if i lose them both I'll go in change my account to bogus info and never go back to it.
-
Obvious entry bet - willing to lose a certain amount to get me signed up. But yeah $5 was max allowed
-
Put $5 on it before it flipped - so on the off chance? $250 my way ($5 was max it allowed)
-
Dang it may put$50 on it - never mind my previous requests on this board :)

What odds you giving? Thinks there's about a 10% chance - you give me 10 to 1?
-
Then they are foolish imho - why would you ever undersell yourself to the odds that much? Never let your ego get you into a bad deal imho. *RTZ doesn't strike me as foolish by the way
-
Give me 10 to 1? No one would make a 1:1 bet on this - it wouldn't make sense. Even if you are very confident you gotta look at what odds makers are giving it and it would be insanely generous of me to give you 10 to 1 based on that (not even on the list for odds)

I thought osterman and Dolson were buddies? Remember a couple people saying - listen to Ostermen more then anyone.
-
There's a couple schools of thought on why this would happen: 1) afraid of what happened last time - too many chefs. 2) no real advantage to making it public - looks bad when people say no and fans overreacting to every back and forth can make fanbase look manic 3) part of negotiations are salary - better off doing that in a vacuum so you don't get into a long back and forth. Or in some cases you don't want people to know who and how much your other offers are for. 4) Other party wants it that way for whatever reason Note: i don't think IU is actively sending out misinformation but when no information is getting out people present speculation as fact sometimes

Or we just don't know. That it's been kept so close to the vest that we dont have a clue who we have actually went after or not. Just rumors.

I picture @Uspshoosier sitting like Sherlock in elementary with 10 TVs - scanning them all.

If it's one of those 3 then I gotta think it's Stephens - solely because of the quiet nature of all this. Ultimately the Stephens are tight knit and Tracy makes sure it stays that way. She manages all facets of the legal side and money - playing agent/manager/lawyer (Brad's mentioned it in a number of interviews). That being said it'd be over the moon over 90% of the coaches mentioned in this thread - but any of this 3 are a grandslam imho.
-
I thought I saw where someone asked you 'who do you think the next coach will be?'. If not - I'll ask - who's IUs next coach?
-
Someone falsely identifying themselves on the internet to get attention? That's just crazy talk :)

I keep going back to this - AP said it and it just makes sense. There's gonna be a crap ton of noise till we announce - gotta keep reminding myself that if I hear a name, it's just a guess as far as this search has proven so far Scenario/pieces of what others have speculated: 1) SD had his priority list but also wanted a second opinion so let search firm also come up with one 2) SD worked on his guys and so did search firm, of course keeping in contact 3) SD advances with names on list - this could have happened at anytime with agents/intermediaries 4) SD has 'his guy' but he still has to do his due diligence with viable candidates and there's plenty of time so doesn't just stop (just cause I love my first interview - I still interview other candidates and rank them - stuff happens) 5) I assume this week (maybe earlier) he starts letting candidates know - but he greatly appreciates them so he may let slip 'Man so and so is a great coach - seriously considering' - heck that'll get a lot of those guys raises if nothing else. What I would do - you may be looking at them again in the future A part of me thinks - if we hear their name it's more likely a 'thanks for playing, greatly appreciate your patience...' then an actual possible hire.

Man, site owners are gun shy this time around or no one is talking to them at all - they've gotten so scared that aren't even making their own claims, they all retweet another journalist adding only 'Hot Board updated...' - I'm not picking on any one site cause it seems the norm this time around for newspapers and for IU based sites. Hard to justify paying for any access (recruiting may be the exception a bit) I get a lot of people were wrong before Woodson but it just feels like no one wants to be first - I guess with social media it's easier to collect receipts but have some cahonas.

@Home Jersey may have already linked this video - But I like how Adragna breaks out stuff - think he does a good job. Anyway (imho) a great break down of McCollum: https://x.com/CoachAdragna/status/1900367366476718285

Agreed but it's kinda the new norm imho. The timing of the transfer portal for both Football and Basketball is terrible - Football it's before playoffs (I get they want kids to be able to switch over between semesters but c'mon - you telling me an athlete can't get a waiver for 2 or 3 weeks?) - same with basketball. Terrible timing that puts new coaches/teams in a terrible spot.
-
And tons of people were real mad. Real mad. I remember it was cause they thought it was a Herbert push - that they were buddies was the only reason we hired him.
-
Agreed - unc and texas keep winning and we'll have plenty of time to make an announcement.
-
I could definitely see MT getting on someones staff though - he's only 60 and he's a +63% winning coach - maybe a GM?
-
I think it's to get some stuff in order before portal opens (march 24th) (obviously only if they aren't coaching in tourney)
-
Absolutely - this wasn't meant towards 'you' - just anyone that would come down on someone for sharing what they know. I appreciate it - and feel like it's childish to attack you over it.
