But still much more experience and success that Mediocre Mike. Buckner just wants to see how far he can drive the Indiana men's basketball program in to the ground. His legacy has been trashed, along with Woodson's.

Not really a surprise. There was never a real chance that Louisville was going to be able to lure him away from Waco.

The only reports I've seen say "torn meniscus and cartilage issue". He had surgery his senior year of HS, but had to have it redone after he enrolled at Indiana. Sounds like the surgery while in HS didn't help, and may have made it worse. He missed his entire senior year in HS and freshman year at IU.

Sadly this is pretty accurate as I see it. Tough break for a kid, but it's a hard situation to bounce back from.

He was good with wins/losses - won at a 75% clip. But he was in the Mountain West Conference, not a P4 school. His post season record was pretty unspectacular: NIT first round, NIT second round (twice), NCAA round of 64, NCAA round of 32 (twice). So, yeah, he got his team into A post season tournament, but never got past the second round.

That thought has seriously crossed my mind. I like Matt Painter a lot. He's probably untouchable right now, and may not be interested in leaving everything that he's build in W Lafayette, but I could definitely get on that train.

For me, there are several things. First was the Pierre Pierce thing. Still can't believe that, and he only apologized to get the UCLA job. He was pretty good at Manchester College, and good enough at SW Missouri State to get the Iowa gig. But his record since then has been a series of ups and downs. He does recruit better than Woodson, but so do you and I.

I wouldn't have picked either. I'd sooner root for Purdue. 100% honest answer.

If the past 3 years has shown us anything, it's that he doesn't see anything the way most coaches do. He just wants to sit in his ivory tower, sipping wine and smoking his cigars and explaining to us that he's right, he's doing his job and that because we dare to criticize or question him that we are not true fans. The audacity. Furthermore, I don't care that he played here 40 years ago. I don't care that he had a mediocre career as a coach in the NBA. He can't/won't recruit, and he's a really bad college coach who surrounds himself with flunkies that tell he what he wants to hear. And he feels entitled to coach here 4 years despite all of his flaws and warts. He was "hurt" when we hired Archie over him, despite him having ZERO qualifications to coach any college team, let alone at a P4 school. Someone needs to tell him that the emperor is naked, and it's a pretty ugly look.
