Listened to a bunch of podcasts today to get a vibe for what national people are saying. Two main things stood out - First, not a lot of faith that we’ll land one of the really big fish. Everyone talked about Stevens and it was split between making fun of us for even trying or saying, “hey, you at least need to make the call and make him say no.” But no one thinks we get him. Second, a pretty interesting factoid I heard (which seems directly counter to the current belief) was that Otzelberger actually had his buyout substantially LOWERED this past offseason. It went from like $15 million DOWN to $5 million. I think it was Goodman who said that on Field of 68, but don’t hold me to that…Anyway, if that is actually true that is awfully interesting.

I think it’s a pyramid scheme.

FWIW, most of their foreign recruiting came from Tommy Lloyd. That well has dried up to some extent since he went to Arizona.

He wouldn’t be my first choice either. Mainly because of age. But the Zags getting upset in the tourney thing just isn’t real at all. They are probably the most consistent tournament performers since Izzo in his heyday. They just never got over that final hump. I’ll see myself out.

It is. My closest friend was a player on their first team that put them on the map (1999). He is still close to the program, and there was a lot of concern that they couldn’t hang in the new NIL space. I think they had well under a million dollars for their entire roster this year. Not a good time to be a small religious school in the middle of nowhere Spokane.

Anyone listen to the Mark Titus podcast? Woody came up this week. They were mainly talking about the Hubert Davis situation at UNC and how it could be really awkward if Roy wasn’t okay with letting him go. They analogized it to IU and said that this is the problem with hiring people from within. Concluded with the fact that if Woody had played his college ball anywhere else he undoubtedly would have been fired after last year.

Yet you choose to believe an absolutely unverified X post from a poster with BURNER IN THEIR USER NAME about death threats to Woody. Truly a masterclass in Never Been Got Scott hypocrisy and self delusion.

Poor AH and Steuben. They must have lost their internet access. Can’t think of any other reason they are nowhere to be found in the midst of this sh!tshow.

Just remember kids, even though Woody haters were the ones who get accused of moving the goalposts…It doesn’t matter that he is completely whiffing on the 2025 recruiting class (that we were repeatedly assured was gonna come together nicely because Mediocre Mike suddenly realized he had to work hard). Small problem with your argument. Woody’s biggest supporters are all old heads who don’t believe in those fancy schmancy advanced stats. Witness the absurd comparison to Scottie Pippen based merely on ppg. It’s not your fault. You wouldn’t understand since you’ve never played high level sports.

How in the world do you know this? As with everyone we are not in deep personal relationships with (and even then you could argue, most of the time you don’t REALLY know someone), you don’t really have any idea what kind of person he is. So all we have to go on is what we can see publicly. And for some of us, what he see is an overly entitled, egocentric jack*ss. ps Jim Jones was a fellow IU alumnus too. Hope you’re not relying too much on that factor in deciding who is a “good” person.
