  1. Just a couple of years ago. Woodson's last two teams were loaded with talent. Just had horrible evaluation and coaching of guards.
  2. Starting wing, proven high end shooter. That is our biggest need left.
  3. Love seeing a clear coherent plan from the staff. - Went for Estrella at C... he went elsewhere, immediately pivoted to Yig and closed - Went for Sherrell... when it dragged out a bit, immediately lined up the Rancik visit as a contingency plan in case things fell through. Ryan Carr is the man.
  4. Doesn't USC have 3 top 25 recruits coming in, all C/PFs? How is that gonna work?
  5. Agree. Adding Hall (or someone like him) would take me from cautiously optimistic about next year's squad, to "I think we're gonna be pretty good".
  6. Yea we need another C for practice and in case of injury. But Yig + Sherrell are likely to fill basically 100% of the minutes at the 5 against good teams. Without much PT to offer, probably going to be a cheaper guy in that role.
  7. Playing 24 mpg as a center, yea.
  8. For sure, I trust Devries much more than Woodson. Teams can obviously win with two big lineups, we were just a high profile example of doing it poorly in the recent past.
  9. I agree poor guard play, and playing slow no-defense Mgbako as a 3 were big issues with his last 2 teams.
  10. It will be interesting to see how people respond to the double big lineup, after all the hand wringing about it under Woodson.
  11. If we really have this massive war chest - Yigitoglu, Sherrell, and Rancik would give us incredible flexibility at the 4/5 depending on matchups. But I'd spend big on a premium wing before a third premium big.
  12. I watched his highlight video, and it took until about the 3:00 mark before there was a highlight that wasn't a dunk. Guy is a monster. Actually that's not entirely true. There was one play where he missed a jump hook, missed the tip in, before he finally just grabbed it and threw it down with two hands.
  13. Starter on an SMU team that made the tourney this year. Huge, rebounder - shot blocker type. Wonder what this means for Sherrell? The SMU kid would be a very highly qualified backup.
  14. Less likely sure, but guys still leave good programs. Bidunga left Kansas. Sherrell from Alabama, Reibe from UConn. On a lesser level, Myles Colvin was an in-state legacy recruit and contributor on a team projected preseason #1. Still left.
  15. Duke has plenty of roster turnover. They just mostly lose guys to the draft instead of the portal. Duke had to replace all five starters from the '24-25 team. And 4 of 5 starters from the '23-24 team before that.
  16. He's big enough for his position either way. Solid rebounding numbers in the Big 12. Hopefully his 3PT% keeps improving a bit, but otherwise this is the type of player I want at the 4.
  17. Add Sherrell, Rancik, and a wing shooter/scorer like Jake Hall and I would be over the moon happy with this portal season.
  18. Rancik can shoot. And to be honest, Reed Bailey with a jump shot would have made a pretty useful Big Ten 4 man. Interestingly, the #1 most similar season to Ranick's '25-26 on Kenpom is Christian Watford '11-12.
  19. Reibe is a 7'1" McDonald's All American who looked good in his minutes for a Final Four team. He is not going to have a problem finding a starting role somewhere.
  20. I still think Sherrell is mostly a 5. But if we seriously have the budget for both of those guys, plus another quality wing? Yea of course let's do that.
  21. Yea I think people are overthinking this. Dude is 6'11", 255 lbs. Great shot blocker. It's cool that he has the ability to step out occasionally. But he still took two thirds of his shots around the rim, and that was while playing for the most three-point happy coach in the country.
  22. Where is the "Sherrell wants to be a 4" stuff coming from? He's 6-11, 255 and one of his best traits is shot blocking. I know he can shoot so I suppose could play some alongside another big, but he sure seems like a 5 to me.
  23. Anyone have a scouting report on Mustaf defensively? Good athlete, so I'm hoping he's a plus there.
  24. Agree, looking like a very different squad than last season. Devries at Drake never had a team top 100 nationally in threes attempted, so last season may have been more making lemonade out of what we had, than a true style preference for him. I do think you want shooters around a dynamic PG like Burton though, assuming we land him. Hopefully there's another wing shooter in the pipeline.
  25. He's certainly going to play. IMO, I'd consider Harris and Mustaf the starting 2 and 3 until proven otherwise. Maybe we add one more wing of a similar level, and then one of the three is the 6th man. But I doubt either is coming here for a lesser role than that.
