  1. You are correct. The IU basketball program I grew up with in the 70’s and 80’s is long gone. Dead and never coming back. That’s been established for well over 20 years. Will still always root for my Alma Mater and hope they win every game. Two things can be true.
  2. Of course not, he’s at a better job, as would have been the case with IU and Michigan being open at the same time two years ago. I’ve been an IU fan longer than you’ve been alive. Not something you can just walk away from.
  3. May could have had the job THIS year had he wanted it or simply waited out the Woodson experiment that everyone knew was on borrowed time. He chose to go to Michigan that shares every resource IU has and likely then some without a delusional or toxic fan base. Have heard from a very reliable source that he had no desire to put his immediate and extended family through a potentially very ugly scene had things not worked out here, as many still live in the area.
  4. Yep the list goes on. Dusty May, Brad Stevens, Billy Donovan, Bruce Pearl, Scott Drew. All guys that would crawl to Bloomington. Delusional.
  5. Because this program has been utter dog doo since we decided that winning B10 titles and reaching the S16 wasn’t good enough.
  6. Nonsense. Mo Creek was from the DMV area, not the Midwest, so have zero idea why that would have any bearing on Midwest area kids or AAU coaches? Crean landed high profile DMV area players like Troy Williams and Robert Johnson after Creek and fellow east coast 5* Noah Vonleh and Thomas Bryant long after Creek’s departure. Had no trouble bringing in James Blackmon or Hanner Perea who were both highly rated as well. Recruiting was the least of Crean’s problems. Was Crean’s in-game coaching the best? No. Did he still win multiple B10 titles and advance to the second weekend multiple times? Yes. This idea that Crean was tailing off at the end is pure lunacy. He literally won the B10 the year before he was fired and had a team ranked as high a #3 in the country the year he was fired with wins over Kansas and North Carolina, the latter who would go on to win the title that year. Hell Crean had a ranked team the week prior to OG blowing out his knee. The wheels fell off after that and the end of the year slide was disappointing, but let’s not act like Crean fell into some deep abyss at the end of his tenure. He had a ranked team who lost its best player to a freak injury.
  7. I’m aware of the “rumor”. I don’t believe our relationship with in-state recruits is any different today than it was 10 years ago. We’re a has been program that’s going to struggle to get kids regardless of where they come from.
  8. I thought you were a context guy? You’re going to hold Crean’s first 3 years against him all things considered? He was 4/6 on tournaments once he had himself an established roster and one of those misses came after a dumb luck injury to his best player.
  9. So make up your mind lol. Is it simply wanting a coach who makes the tournament more times than not or does IU need to continue to shuffle coaches for eternity until one wins a national title? You’re talk out of both sides of your mouth right now.
  10. All talk lol. You keep saying “just making the tournament” is the minimal expectation, but you don’t actually mean that. Tom Crean, once he got settled in, made the tournament “more times than not”, and not just made the tournament…but actually advanced in the tournament. And won conference championships to boot. Tom Crean got fired because he lost the fan base in 2013 when he failed to win a national title with two top 5 draft picks. It’s as simple as that. All this talk about just wanting a coach who consistently makes the tournament is window dressing at its finest, we had that in Crean. We fired him.
  11. As the rest of the college basketball world points and laughs, at least we have ourselves.
  12. Most people can’t handle truth, especially when it’s not something they want to hear. I get it.
  13. So not a top 2 job lol? Thanks. Add in McCollum who wanted nothing to do with Indiana and you’re looking at a mid-tier conference job, let alone nationally.
  14. I disagree. Throw out the first 3 years of a total rebuild and Crean’s tenure was pretty damn impressive once he got his feet under him.
  15. Because the rest of the B10 wants IU to continually shuffle coaches every 3-4 years?
  16. What does hiring a capable coach look like? Was Hurley a capable coach after completing his 4th year without a single tournament win and two early exits as a higher seed? Would Hurley have seen a 5th season at IU? Maybe? Bet you though that all the ballknowers around here would have deemed him incapable though after two years. Just a guess.
  17. Known who he was going to get and limited to who he was able to get are two different things. Just further reinforces the total disconnect from reality between IU and the rest of the college basketball world.
  18. People, meaning the prominent boosters and figureheads surrounding Indiana basketball, not fans.
  19. They supposedly made Scott Dolson hire Mike Woodson and keep him an extra year, so why not?
  20. I could have told you. Who in their right mind is taking just another job with delusional expectations?
  21. How many mediocre coaches win the B10 outright twice and make the second week three times in a 5 year span? I’d love to have a mediocre coach right now, wouldn’t you?
  22. Who cares what he did at Georgia? That's irrelevant to what he did at IU. Mike Woodson won the Eastern Conference regular season in New York, how did that translate here? It doesn't mean anything. You can't say out of one side of your mouth that making the tournament is the only thing we ask out of IU coaches while saying Crean should have been fired because it was clear he was never going to win a championship here. It's hypocrisy at its finest.
