It’s not my money. I just hate the idea we keep lighting it on fire on coaches who don’t deserve to be operating with that kind of budget.
DDv should have made the tourney this year, he didn’t. Fine. Give him the same budget and see what he can do next season.
Escalate his resources when he starts escalating results.
There are coaches out there doing far more with less of a budget and we can’t fall @$$-backwards into hiring one.
I can’t imagine big donors will be knocking down Dolson’s door to increase the funds for next year anyway.
You’re not hearing me. I’m saying we’re not KSU in terms of the resources we’re pumping into the program or the fan support—even though the results are far worse (Tang at least made a deep run).
But because results continue to be that of KSU, let’s pause on flushing more money down the drain until we can feel DDv is the right guy. He should be able to get into the tournament with a 10M budget next season. If he can’t he’s not the right guy to give 15M to.
Until DDv shows he can identify talent and elevate it throughout the year his program does not deserve more funding. It’s lighting money on fire until he shows he’s the guy.
It’s sad because of how much we’ve (fans and program) invested in that time to achieve the same results as a school that doesn’t care at all about basketball.
Until Devries shows he can identify talent and elevate them over a season do NOT increase the NIL budget. Just wasting money. Give it to Moren or Cig.
It’s spending on NIL and drawing fan support of a program that’s competing near the top 25.
The inconsistency between investment (financial and fans) and the results is astounding.
Need to find the right coach and that solves everything. In the meantime, do not increase the NIL budget for next year and give any extra to Cig.
Cignetti immediately showed results and the admin quickly backed him financially in a huge way
Same thing with Dusty and Michigan. Show you’re the guy early on and they’ll reward you with all the resources you could ask for.
Missing the tourney again for this program, in this era and with a new guy with no track record will impact next year significantly
Iowa, UVa, Nova, Miami, Texas A&M, NC State, Texas all heading to the tourney this year while we watch again from home.
1st year coaches.
I guess all those places have been to more tourneys than us since 2016 so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised.
This year is playing out exactly like last. A win over Purdue at home is the only good thing on the resume. No quality non-con wins.
We’ll beat OSU to finish 19-12 but it won’t matter.
TDv graduating is sadly the best thing Coach has going for him right now. Guy has no juice otherwise.
Put that $2M and 32 mpg to better use or the seat is white hot coming into 2027-2028.
