  1. He's a public figure paid handsomely to do a job that he isn't very good at. Why is he above scrutiny or criticism?
  2. It doesn't need to be the #1 sport in our lifetime. It just needs to keep it's head above water and competitive more than once in a decade. That isn't a huge ask.
  3. MSU didn't have to pay a dime to an underachieving football coach because of smart language added to Tucker's contract by MSU's AD. MSU just hired a head coach away from a top 20 team. IU is interviewing Mike Hart.
  4. MSU didn't have to pay a dime to fire him.
  5. Correct. It's been a long time since IU has had a competent athletic director.
  6. This isn't the NFL. Coaching in college and coaching the NFL are two completely different animals.
  7. And that's why Scott Dolson/Indiana's athletic department is a mess. I don't care what kind of basketball history you have, football should be by far and away your #1 priority. It's the biggest money maker and there isn't a close second.
  8. The thing is, he wouldn't know any better. And why would he? He's never had to hire a football coach before. How could he possibly have the experience or knowledge to hire an adequate football coach when he's never done it before?
  9. Shelling out one of the worst coaching contracts in the history of the sport and replacing him with a guy who gets fired 3 years later would be immediate grounds for dismissal at literally any other P5 program in America.
  10. So Herman wants the job but he's 4th on Dolson's list? JC, what is Dolson's buyout lol.
  11. The only reason I can come back and say it won't be Hart or Frye is because Dolson's job is on the line with this hire. Would you hire Mike Hart or Justin Frye if your job was on the line?
  12. Toledo has Co-offensive coordinators who double as the QB and OL coach. Oddly enough, the QB coach was HC at Plant High School in Tampa for nearly two decades. Would be nice to try and get that pipeline started back up. Some of our best players under Allen were Plant grads.
  13. Candle would likely call his own plays which should leave a bigger pool for the defensive side of the ball which is needed. Candle is a meh hire in my opinion that looks like a home run compared to Hart or Frye.
  14. That’s not relevant. But if I were a university president tasked with hiring an AD, prior experience would be the one pre-requisite I’d require.
  15. Probably why I’ve never heard of it. Not a podcast guy.
  16. He had a losing conference record at LSU. That should have been your first clue. You have to try to be that bad to do that at LSU. The 3 coaches hired at LSU after DiNardo all won national titles. DiNardo couldn’t beat Vanderbilt.
  17. The sad state of affairs in the two revenue generating sports is the direct result of hiring an Athletic Director with Dolson’s qualifications.
  18. I have no clue who or what that is either but it’s reassuring to know that somebody else realizes what a colossal failure hiring Frye or Hart would be.
  19. Hiring a position coach with ZERO prior head coaching experience, ZERO prior play-calling experience, ZERO experience hiring an entire support staff at a school like Indiana is a recipe for disaster. We will be sitting here 3 years from now doing it all over again if that’s your thing.
  20. Lol, I used to hire people all the time at various levels. I would never interview a stock boy for an executive sales position, but that’s just me.
  21. We shouldn’t be hiring a coordinator either. This isn’t a job where you learn on the fly, but I get it though, you’re going to call whoever Dolson hires a home run and say he deserves a raise.
  22. It's not a requirement, but it certainly helps, especially when you've never been tasked with evaluating and subsequently hiring a support staff, something Hart nor Frye have ever done either.
  23. We have the worst P5 college football program in America getting ready to make an extremely underwhelming hire and a basketball team that will be lucky to make the tournament this year. But yes, keep shilling for Scott Dolson.
  24. Don't disagree, but I'd prefer my head football coach have some semblance of prior play-calling duties before taking a head coaching job for the first time, among many other things.
