  1. i was at the game. I thought what helped us win was the "Hoosiers" video and a plea for the crowd to get into it. The crowd absolutely did get into it. Then instead of stalling and hoping the clock would run out, we returned to trying to score. And score we did. Our response to a full court press still flummoxes me. But, it's a win. One we certainly needed.
  2. I don't know about her transferring. She seems happy here and surely she will get more playing time. I hope she does get more playing time, and I certainly hope she stays.
  3. As I remember Holmes was crippled against Miami, was she not ?
  4. Two things to notice here. Freshman Maya Makalusky led the team in scoring. Not bad for such a loser, at least according to some folks here. Faith Wiseman had 1 bucket, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks and took up lots of space in the middle. Take a look at her =/- of +1 in 12 minutes of play. Stated another way, when Faith was of the lineup for her 28 minutes, Michigan gained a point a minute. When she was not in the lineup for her 12 minutes, IU gained a point. There may be other reasons for that +/-, but somehow that stat can't be ignored, can it?
  5. I am a Patburg fan. But in all honesty, I'm not sure she's ready to be a head coach just yet.
  6. IU offense is not the problem. Shay has 18 points this QUARTER. Defense is awful, but good for Makalusky for taking a charge
  7. Purdue 16 of 20 on shots starting in quarter 2
  8. Interesting....... Every single "Big10" team that IU has played so far is currently in Charlie Creme's bracketology as a team that belongs in the BigDance. Starting now, IU has ten "Big10" games left, including 2 against Purdue. Of those, UCLA, USC, Michigan, and Oregon (last 4 in without the opening round) are currently penciled in for the Big Dance. These 5 teams are currently not "in." Penn State, Rutgers, Purdue (twice), Northwestern, and Wisconsin. I think this should give IU a better chance to win some games. Early IU schedule was certainly not kind.
  9. OSU's press has flummoxed us for years. One year, we destroyed their press. That's been the rare exception. But we're not alone in that regard. I personally think they get away with a great number of fouls when pressing because they do it so fast the refs have trouble seeing it. Agree that the throw in is part of the problem.
  10. I looked up DME. They claim they offer a good education. I hope that's right.
  11. Purdue beat 'em and they took it out on us. We were simply beaten in every aspect of the game. Makalusky was one bright spot. Really a bad game for us, and the schedule doesn't get much easier.
  12. "The best NCAA Women's Basketball seed in Indiana (IU) history is aNo. 1 seed, which the Hoosiers earned for the first time ever in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, becoming the second-highest No. 1 seed overall that year. Before that, their highest seeds were No. 3 (2022) and No. 4 (2021) when they also made deep tournament runs to the Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight. Pretty good for a coach who "hasn’t been able to build a complete title contending team here." :)
  13. You are wearing my @$$ out. I simply do not understand your constant belittlement of a freshman IU woman basketball player. Am I the only IU women's basketball FAN on this forum? Seems to me that almost everybody else needs to make themselves feel important by pointing out the weaknesses of a group of college women doing their best to win games. We just lost to the number 11 team in the USA by 3 points with 2 freshmen and 2 sophomore starters.
  14. I thought she looked good at the South High School exhibition game. Quick as a cat, good ball handler, nice shooting/scoring plus a real "show-time" behind the back dribble-drive and layup. Will look good in creme and crimson if you ask me.
  15. Stolen from the Herald Times: "Indiana women's basketball fans can catch a glimpse at the program’s future this week at Bloomington South. DME Academy, a nationally recognized prep program based in Florida, will tip off against Assumption High School (Ky.) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in a game that features two of IU’s highly-rated 2026 signees. Gigi Battle, a four-star forward who picked the Hoosiers among 30-plus scholarship offers, plays for an undefeated DME Academy team (12-0) and Ashlinn James, a four-star point guard, runs the show for Assumption. Tickets will be available at the door for $10."
  16. +/- is one of my favorite stats..... Note that Z was in the game for almost 17 minutes, during which Indiana was +1. Can't wait for her playing time to increase. Maya was in the game for 36:21 during which IU was -8. In the 3:39 she was out of the game, IU was -7. Jerni's 10:09 resulted in a +/- of 0. Other factors likely play into these +/1 figures, but I found them to be interesting nonetheless.
  17. Maya Makalusky with SIX three pointers. leading the Hoosiers with 20 points. Caffey with 11. Garzon with 8. I second the motion that the future is very bright. It ain't gonna' happen overnight, but let's give this team some time.
  18. 12 zip run in what has become a way too typical start of third quarter. 73 opponent to 26 IU in Big 10 third quarters according to Austin Render.
  19. Z and Noyan both have 3 fouls. Welcome to Maryland.
  20. Makalusky 3 for 6, (2 for 4 on 3s). Leads team in scoring today. Yeah, she's no good.
  21. Talk about a tough road ahead. 17 Big10 games. 9 of the opponents in top 25, 3 of those in top 10.
  22. Kadlecova's leaving was disappointing at best. Totally unexpected, at least by me. She seemed happy after games. And I think Maya is going just fine. She's a freshman for crying out loud.
  23. Maya Makalusky Big10 Freshman of the week.
