  1. This may be old news to everybody but me. I found this amazing. I don't quite understand. https://purduesports.com/news/2024/9/24/womens-basketball-gearlds-extended-through-2028-29 I will say her incoming class looks pretty good. But still........
  2. Katie Gearalds has been a complete mystery to me. Her record at Marian? 227–49 I know the Big10 is a different beast, but who would have guessed such a terrible record over her 4 years? Glad IU came to play today. Happy for Lilly and Lexus. They had good games and we need for them to contribute. Maryland-OSU game is a real hum-dinger.
  3. In total agreement with you. Creme of ESPN bumped us way up to a 9 seed from being on the bubble for an 11 play-in seed prior to our big win over #8 OSU.
  4. We beat Nebraska here I think. But I hear 'ya on the road games. And we've had some clunkers along the way. Harvard here, barely bear Southern Indiana here, lost to Butler there. Real hard team to figure out. But IU sure looked good last night!
  5. I'm not a bracketologist, but I don't see how they can keep IU out of the BigDance now. IU has 3 quad wins, 4 quad 2. Now up to 36 on the NCAA NetRankings. It's all confusing. Minnesota has exactly ZERO quad 1 wins and only 2 quad wins, and somehow they have a NETRanking of 32? Apparently killing terrible teams is a great strategy for the NCAA's computer. Anyway, I will be surprised if we don't get in. And I'm not convinced we can't win out based on our play last night.
  6. PERFECT analysis. Creme says the five in the middle of the Big10 are all four on the "last 4 byes list," with Washington (13th in BigTen at the moment, 14-12 overall) in the "last 4 in" list. So they are essentially all almost exactly the same in his eyes. Even Washington? I think we will have to drop to the "bottom of the middle of the Big10" to not make the tournament. I also think that it will take being passed by several teams to keep us out of the big dance. I would feel better if we beat OSU, MSU, or Maryland. Since 2 of those 3 are here, I don't think it's impossible to steal one. Do that, and I feel very confident we're in the BigDance. Which is a big deal.
  7. I think it looked more like a thousand tops. Pretty sad for a team as good as Michigan. This one REALLY hurt. Just a few more threes and we walk away winners.
  8. I personally don't think Moren calling Lilly out publicly is a very good strategy. Lilly is not the only problem. She's shorter than either Garzon or Parrish, not very stout, and to expect her to bang around with 6'5 and larger really strong women is a lot to ask. Her stats are very close to Stripling. Holmes spoiled us. Not many girls the size of Lilly or Holmes play center well in the big10. We're overly dependent on 3 point shooting. When they're falling, we're tough. When they're not, it's tough for us.
  9. Watched every second. We are very lucky to be down ONLY 2. With the exception of one quick 11-2 IU run, our offense has been stuck in the mud. Lots of bricks going up. Several shots went around the rim several times and somehow came out. Garzon, Parrish, and Meister are 1 for 14 combined. Surely we can start moving the ball and making some shots.
  10. Can't help but notice Lilly's +\- was PLUS 16. Pretty good I'd think. I loved the play where she got the block, flew down to the other end of the court and made a layup. What a great win for the Lady Hoosiers. May make the NCAA tournament yet!
  11. I'm exhausted. What a CRAZY game. Quarters 1 and 3 combined, IU 51-31. Quarters 2 and 4 combined, IU 22-39 Thank God for Garzon!
  12. Never daunted fans are the ones I like ! This is a good group of fans in my view. Yeah, we didn't shoot well and seemed out of sync on offense to boot. It looked to me like every player on the Illinois team was bigger and stronger than just about anybody we had. Throw in a "let 'em play" group of officials (except when IU sets picks), and it was all set up to be a long night. We're mid pack in the best basketball conference in the NCAA. No disgrace there is there?
  13. Well, that was about as much fun as a trip to the dentist. But I guess we move onward and upward. Thank goodness for Ciezki. I felt like she basically put the entire team on her back and carried them to the finish line. Charlie Creme's "way too early bracketology" has IU as an 8 seed (Iowa 7), with THIRTEEN BigTen teams in the dance. As I say, way too early to really know anything Watched a little Maryland-USC last night. WOW! ps. thanks for this forum.
  14. How come so many gloom-birds come here to roost? Lots of whining and complaints about the best women's basketball coach IU has ever had. We just beat a good Penn State team with a whole bunch of girls hurt. Don't worry, be happy! Compliments to the positive folks!
  15. Proud of Chanel and the IU-Student Athlete's Bill of Rights. Chanel was able to graduate at IU, I suspect due to the Bill of Rights. Good for her, and for IU!
