Maya Makalusky Big10 Freshman of the week. -
I like the way Jerni plays basketball. I hope she gets more minutes. Brings a steady veteran presence to a fairly young team. I am somewhat surprised IU chose to make a such big deal out of her 1,000 points, considering 982 of them were made at her two previous schools. I know, it's the way things are now. I need to get used to it.

From the Indiana Daily Student, December 13: Wiseman, on the other hand, was out against ULM and did not sit on the bench with her teammates. After the game, Moren said Wiseman got hit and needed to take some time off. “Faith took a hit to the jaw and is experiencing some aftereffects just from getting hit,” Moren said Thursday. “And so, I think just out of precaution, we’re allowing her to take the next couple days off, and I don’t know if you’ll see her on Sunday.”

I am personally glad the IU women who went elsewhere are having success. I notice their former IU teammates are highly supportive of their efforts at their new schools. I wish them well. -

Grace had a good game tonight with the Dallas Wings. Coach put her in at the end of each quarter, and she looked solid. 13 minutes, 2 of 4 from field, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, +/- of +5. On her second 7 day contract with them, I would not be surprised if they keep her.

It worked fine this evening. Let me "practice" and told me when my time was. -

I had the same exact issue three or four days ago. Will try again today. -
Amanda Cahill - Grengewald (Luxembourg)
NatHillIV replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
So happy for Amanda. I think she was one of the all-time IU greats. Had she not played with Tyra Buss and been overshadowed as a result, I think fans would have recognized just how good she was. No surprise she's got her future all planned out. -

Agents now call coaches first to negotiate salaries. My hope is that minor sports can still somehow still be funded. A few small colleges have already dropped some minor sports, and I'm afraid that trend will continue. The NCAA has limited scholarships for the major sports with the theory (hope?) that the "extra" scholarhips will go to minor sports. Who says those scholarships will go anywhere? My fear is that college athletics may become strictly professional with just a few sports remaining. -

I am happy every IU female transfer found a place to play. -

This whole NIL thing would be funny if it weren't so sad. -

That is REALLY sad. Are those figures accurate I wonder? How many free college degrees have been tossed away by kids getting bad advice from parents/friends/"agents"? Are two thirds of those transfer kids (including Sandvik) really left in the lurch ? Unbelievable. -

I guess I'm an old grump, but I can't get excited about a girl looking for happiness at her third different school in 3 years who bails on the last possible day of the transfer portal window. -

I feel certain you guys have watched the incoming transfers more closely than I have. I don't really have any idea who the starting lineup will be. In my mind, the only absolute sure starter is Cizeki. I am pulling for Spreen and Faith, because I'm an Indiana "homer" and not ashamed to admit it. They're both here because they WANT to wear candy stripes. Chloe and Syd are the starters for both Little 500s. I'm personally happy about that! -

What an amazing group of IU Women's basketball contributors this forum features. Realistic, even optimistic, while showing support for the IU coach. Perhaps the IU men's team fans should learn something from this bunch :) -

Hard to replace Chloe, Syd, Strip, and now Garzon with one returning starter and some clearly highly talented transfers. Time will tell ! -

" Socka-Ngueman picked UCLA over Indiana, Tennessee, and Michigan in October 2023. She was ranked No. 26 in the ESPN Top 100 for the Class of 2024, which would’ve made her one of IU’s highest-ranked commits in program history. She ranked higher than both Grace Berger (No. 44, 2018) and Mackenzie Holmes (No. 53, 2019)." NO idea if this is accurate, but I hope it is. And once again we see, when a team recruits somebody, you must KEEP RECRUITING them.
