IU Ladies basketball needs 6 or 7 starters. This means when 6 and 7 play there is 0 drop off at that particular position in play. (Only exception would when Holmes is at her best or near best as first team all American). This means 1 big player and a Berger type player plug in as Lexi Donarski type player comes to mind. So it means probably a couple from the transfer portal to sustain or maintain championship status. Starters: Scalia, Parrish, Moore-McNeil, Garzon, and Holmes And then there are a couple current IU Ladies on the bench that can push for minutes or be one of the 6 or 7….but though freshman coming in will take time and the current bench is still improving. Bargesser wasn’t quite as quick or fast as she once was in high school due to high school leg injury. Maybe that continues to improve. (Also have to take into account dents, dings, or injuries and etc)…Deep rosters can sometimes get a little thin or not as deep as thought

Next to T. Moren I find VT coach pretty impressive as in low key relaxed, confident, fun and likable. Both, seem to be classy human beings.
-
Lauren Ware, Matilda Ekh, and Lexi Donarski
-
And Lexi Dornarski / Iowa State could be a possible fit the bill for IU Ladies basketball program. Offense and defender.

I think several IU Ladies players will be improved Parrish being one of them (natural ability gamer). Parrish should write the Refs office to quit picking on her with fouls.
-
Holmes being true to her word. Expected as much. What a GREAT Gal!!! and I expect Scalia to be much improved!!!
-
The right transfer portal player can always be used by almost if not all 100% of teams. The key word is ATTITUDE fitting into program Culture.
-
Meister did very well this year and was excellent in her playing time. However, it remains to be seen how well she could actually carry the load as Holmes full time replacement. If IU could get another big where each player could share in that might make for opponents something to contend with much in IU Ladies favor.
-
In the long run Faith Wiseman may become a forward at IU especially if she could develop a 3 ball….just speculation not sure…I think there is a lot of upside. A lot depends on her and her development and I am not sure where it all ends up in a few years. Right now I know she is 6’4” with some possibilities.
-
Disagree that Wiseman will be ready as a freshman to take over for Holmes. Yes, she is going to be a high school senior next year.
-
It’s going to take some development time (a year at least) even though she may play some) for Indian Creek girl.
-
Lauren Ware is the 6’5” from Arizona. My reason for her is she set out last year with injury. Playing as a role player might fit well in her circumstances. Another 6’4” possibility is from Arizona State…Newman per Class of 66.
-
the 6’4” girl from IC…I don’t think it happens but that’s where the 6’5” Arizona girl transfer portal could come in….give a couple years for IC girl (upside) to develop and take over. Towards the end of season and at times IU Ladies missed N-CHillary play hard nose tough and she had fun doing it that kept her loose). If Ekh at 6’ with professional experience would buy in that would be good.

Women college basketball is allotted 15 scholarships
-
Championship dominant teams have minutes available for to 8 deep and situational circumstances 9 deep to keep level of play in tact. Culture attitudes about this has to be norm.
-
Would Ekh MSU buy into a plug in for not Grace…but a defensive stopper, and a role player on a championship team probably coming off bench and again IU Ladies could have 6 or 7 level starters whether off the bench or starting. Keeps players on toes and competitive. Ekh is very efficient offensively

IU Ladies Staff are very in house about injuries, player status and TRANSFER PORTAL RECRUITING until things are close to or finalized…last year it was like towards end of the first week in April.Arizona has a 6 ‘5 in portal and Minnesota has a 6’2” in portal and Michigan State has a 6’ in portal. Who is a 100 % buy in to IU Ladies Program culture? No negatives on culture are welcome. Just positives to keep stair stepping north to championship/s. would 6 ‘5” (some injuries) be willing to play behind Holmes for a year and share situational time with L.M.? Mack needs a no injury year!

Well, what’s the first thing that you think about when Iowa offense crosses the half court (10 second line??? Answer:CAITLIN CLARK.
-
All naysayers regarding Clark….She can’t help it that she is that good and can back up her play because whatever team she played for would be a fan and program love feast. (only exception would be a player/s and family who may want more playing time regardless of winning which applies to many or almost all programs).
-
Yes, Kaitlin Peterson left team mid season to Central Florida and IU Ladies we’re already one player below scholarship limit. IU Ladies have 2 scholarships available the way things currently stand.
-
Several teams lay eggs in March Madness. It’s painful when it hits home…. And so much fun for foxes who raid the coop.
-
The bracket didn’t need to open up. The IU Ladies are absent. IU Ladies could have beat any teams in tournament at their best or close to their best…however, they could have also lost to any of them if they got to far from their best which they did. Vs Miami… IU became a little introverted and tightened up and Miami who is a good team played off the crowd and moment extroverted and confidently loose.
-
Matilda Ekh…wondering if IU Ladies this might be a way to plug Grace Berger hole not as a starter and realizing it’s not Grace Berger…but would be a solid complimentary role piece to IU Ladies basketball journey…unless there is a better prospect that would be willing to assume her role as a team player….also realizing the 2 freshman coming in And Minnesota player Micheaux in transfer portal…again willingness to assume role Or a taller girl Or do IU Ladies simply stand pat.

Are more teams playing in the sweet 16 and or elite eight that played more cupcake schedules vs the teams that played tougher schedules…maybe peaking with fresher bodies and legs??? Is it an advantage to play an easier cupcake pre-conference schedule with a couple tougher opponents and improve vs a lot more tough opponents and just a couple cupcakes??? It is a long regular season and then conference tournament going into March Madness.
