I am in the corner of at least consider him as a coaching candidate and give him an interview with Dolson and Whitten and let them decide. I would trust what that outcome would be. We have our opinions and that is it, but I for one would entertain the possibility of him being the IU coach based on the proper interviewing process by Dolson and Whitten!

Don’t worry I won’t but I want a good coach who wins and Beard, May, Drew, etc win so at this point in my life, I say win at all cost, lol

I’m sorry Dorthy, we aren’t in Kansas anymore! They aren’t kids and they are now professional athletes! Part of the territory if you are going to accept those escalated salaries. Play with more focus, effort and efficiency on both ends of the floor, then they won’t get booed. If they would have put forth the effort on both ends, win or lose, there would not have been any booing, IMO. They were booing their lack of focus, effort and efficiency

He’s a 5th year player that has shown poor leadership skills! Wasn’t he the one seems in the casino in the Bahamas instead of being focused on playing basketball. If you absolutely cared about your coach and the university, you would be playing with more effort, focus, and efficiency. I haven’t seen that consistently out of him or anyone else!

Boo away I say!!!! They haven’t earned their salaries, IMO. I know ultimately this is MW’s and the administrations fault, but if these players really cared about their coach and the university, they would play with more focus, fight, efficiency and effort! They would play more as a team instead of for themselves and accept their roles, whatever they are too!

We have to quit thinking about the optics unless you look at the optics in the other direction. It is clear the university only looked their direction and had no clue this was going to happen. So which optic looks worse now, firing Woodson last year or what happened at the Illinois game? I say the Illinois game was much worse!

I say if we hire Brad Steven’s, Bruce Pearl, or Dusty May, the line of communication will be open again to Mullins. I am not saying he will decommit from UConn but the new coach will at least reach out to start a dialogue

He’s not coaching now! I say give him a call to have him come back as an interim to try and right this train wreck. He would definitely be an upgrade to what we have now!

And that was never the option because he broke the rules on something that is legal now. I think he would have changed. It was year 1 and he brought those players in so he could start winning immediately. Yes, they had issues but my guess under todays Transfer Portal and NIL, a lot of players aren’t going to class!

I actually like the Sampson hire there are others who were mocking Sampson having drug dealers on the team. Personally, I like the way his teams play, they play hard and with a focus and toughness I have not seen since the Knight era! It’s too bad that he broke rules and we gave ourselves the death penalty for something that is legal now, which make think why did IU have this holier than thou attitude. Most universities would have slapped their coach on the wrist and have them go back to coaching and let the administration deal with the fallout but not IU, and yet here we are! It is a good possibility that Sampson could have won a National Championship if he was still our coach at IU.

In order to have any attempt at changing the direction of this season, a change has to happen now! Unfortunately I don’t think it will because Woody’s ego still and QBall’s backing, they will convince the stakeholders that he can change the outcome of the season because he will get two big pieces to the puzzle back in Cupps and Reneau and the cherry on top is we finally get to start using Newton in the rotation and that will make all the difference in world to get over that giant hump! Lol

Sorry, I jumped in on the middle of your discussion. I thought you were talking about this current culture or lack there of. Yes some of Sampson’s players were sketchy but his team was athletic and played hard.

We don’t have a culture now unless you thinks that the inmates running the asylum, going out to bars the night before a game, going to the casino in the Bahamas instead of focusing in playing basketball, having an altercation at a drive thru, speeding excessively in a posted speed limit zone and trying to pin it on someone else and losing by double digits in every lose this year as culture then we need to change it!

That’s more practice than what they are getting now, lol
