Woody makes $4M, Ballo makes $1.2M, Reneau makes $750K, Gallo makes $500K, and my understanding every other IU player makes at least $100K....sorry, you make that kind of jack and play or coach poorly, you are going to get booed. These are semi-pro teams now, I personally hate it, but it is here to stay.

If Woody doesn't like the booing, just announce that you are going to retire at the end of the season. If you want to be really classy, just say I really wanted to restore the program to greatness and I feel bad that I wasn't able to get that done. I'd say the booing stops and the team and the fans might actually rally behind him!

Maybe I am just easily entertained, but there is some great comedy in this thread, I have laughed till I have tears in my eyes over several of these posts....I think it is worth the read!

I agree this is the most likely way it ends....unless Woody wants to make it get ugly!

To my knowledge, nobody has officially said he is for sure gone at the end of the season? He might think if they are only thinking of replacing him, that saying he is retiring after one more year, they might just let him finish rather than firing him. I don't think it would work, I am just saying he might do something like that and preempt his firing. I think Woody thinks he is a lot more poplar than he actually is......

I agree, I'm just saying that it wouldn't surprise me if he tried something like this, thinking that they might be hesitant to say, "no, you are retiring now because you're fired!" It might be the best move he has left if he wants another year?

I fear this part may have actually happened.....what if Woodson announces that he is retiring from coaching and next year is his last season, would they still fire him?

Today Dakich spent the first hour of his show ranting about how much IU is paying assistants and others connected to the program. Hunter and Rosemond are making $500K each and Randy Wittman is making $130K as a consultant. DD says it is money laundering! He also doubled down on Ballo telling Woody to F off and he might be reading this forum because he said people on message boards saying he doesn't know what he is talking about are full of it!

Well, I agree he can do limited damage, but it could be very embarrassing and hostile, I don't think anybody wants to see that. I think most of us just want a new coach, we don't want to see an ugly scene between Woody, the fans and players! Why risk it, just let him go after Purdue beats us by 30......
