If the board wasn’t happy then - and with what has transpired this year - you would have to believe that they would be pissed now. That’s why in my gut I don’t see any way possible he comes back next year.

They had basically the entire 76, plus Steve Green - who was as good as scorer as May - at forward, and John Laskowski as 6th man off the bench (Super Sub). I wore #31 when I played (not long) because of Laz. He could sub in at guard, forward, and even sometimes as center.

I went to a weekend at my wife’s Uncle lake house in 2015 about an hour south of Louisville. Big UK/Louisville fans, and of course they were blowing me sh!t about the state of IU basketball. Sorry, that’s fair. I understand the angst with Woodson the coach. I have it as well. But as much as you can hammer him for his coaching ability, if you ever saw what he did on the court as a player, how much he sacrificed his senior year, you would have to give him his props. As I said, I hope that we can somehow move on from his coaching era but still be able to recognize him for the IU legend that he is.

I hope that you are right. Here’s the deal: I love Woody. Any true IU fan that tells you different isn’t really an IU fan. That dude came back from back surgery in December 1979 to help us win a Big 10 title and I know that he cares about the program. But as much as you love the dude as a player, sadly he just hasn’t been the answer as a coach. I sincerely hope he recognizes that and steps aside so we can still honor Him for the good that he’s done over the years for the university.

Not too long ago, I re-watched the game with Maryland from the 81 tournament. Total domination.. I’ll never forget the line in the Sports Illustrated article: “after sporting Maryland an 8-0 lead (like Renaldo Nehemiah giving Jackie Gleason a few hurdles head start)”. ROFLMFAO!!
