Not sure why it would need to take that long if Dolson has his man and he isn’t coaching. If he is coaching, we will see.

Dolson a month ago : listen up team. I have the guy I’ve wanted all along. Got donors willing to pay huge bucks for salary and NIL. But I need to take the heat off. So, some of you spread big whales like Stevens or Drew. Some of you TJ or McDermott. Some of you even Beard/Wade. And let’s get the up and comers in McCollum and Huss. Then, I’ll finally leak out Brownell on selection Sunday and it’ll be epic.

Woodson makes the tourney more often than Brownell. But it’s not going to be Brownell.

Doesn’t mean it’s logical. If Dolson doesn’t gauge the pulse of the fans, that’s on him. I don’t know a single person who wants Brownell. Again, I’m not saying it should be put to a vote. But if it’s that bad, I have to believe Dolson knows that too. But I don’t think it’s Brownell so not worried about.

Sure it does. Do you think Dolson got rid of Woodson without having candidates in mind? If you agree with that, then you really think Brownell was in the top group of candidates? Either Dolson went through a bunch of guys who said no (which I doubt) or he wanted Brownell (which I doubt).

Actually, the logic is against him. It’s not that Brownell is a bad coach. It’s that he has had a long career and nothing in it shows he is ready for IU. If he wasn’t from Indiana, no way he’d be in the discussion. So, if it ends up being Brownell, it’s against all basketball logic. And I just don’t think Dolson will make such a bad hire. There’s a reason why Brownell is the most hated name being discussed. I’m not saying Dolson should crowd source this hire. But you don’t get rid of Woodson to hire Brownell.

I’m getting a kick out of the people who are saying it’s delusional that IU may get a Stevens but that Brownell will be the next coach. Can’t make this **** up.

Exactly! Or they say, "I was let down last time, so I'm not going to believe any rumors this time." Why in the world not? If there is a .001% chance he comes here, he is the number one candidate I want to talk about, hear about, and dream about (not in a creepy/weird way) being at IU. We only have a few more days of the search fun so here is to hoping it ends with IU catching the whale. I look at it this way. He’s either a done deal or it’s not happening. I don’t think he is still mulling it over. So until we hear the announcement, I’ll play the hopeful game that they are just waiting for the right time. But I’m not going to be disappointed if it’s not him unless we really settle on someone, say, because they are from Indiana.

That’s why every time I read something, I assume they are messing with people. They probably aren’t. But it makes it way less stressful and more fun.

No, because very few fans think we will get Stevens. I’m not saying it’s an echo chamber of people who think he is a strong possibility. But I don’t personally know an IU fan who thinks we have much of a shot. The issue with McCollum is it’s too big a jump. The issue with Brownell is he’s an average coach. But if IU makes a good hire, most people will not be upset it’s not Stevens.

If Kathy(Cathy) and Chris are getting along, we are either getting BS or a giant hole is going to open up and we are going to fall in a fire pit of damnation. And I’m ready for either.

Brownell. The vast majority of my IU friends want Beard. No one I know wants Brownell.

But I read it on multiple X posts by clout chasing…I mean people with concrete sources.

The entertainment on this thread is next level. Someday, a sociology major will do their thesis on this coaching search. Something like Confirmation bias meets an information vacuum being filled with insider information. And it has been super fun to be part of.
