  1. I just keep thinking about that Dennis Green rant on the bears. Mike Woodson is who we all thought he was. A very mediocre coach who hasn’t had much success and seemingly has no plan for the future. Which was a concern with zero prior college experience. Ok we can make do we can have him until the next up and coming coach appears. Oh wait, it’s an IU grad who was a former student manager? Nah, let’s pass on him for more years of mediocre ceiling. The most important thing a leader of a business will do is who they hire and who they fire. And if a mistake was made on the hiring - admitting it and moving on quickly. Unfortunately not the way the IU admin works.
  2. I think for a lot of fans, we wish and hoped that Mike Woodson would be the bridge he described. Everyone knew, including MW that he wasn’t the long term answer. The issue is even though deep down we wish he was the bridge, I can see that the bridge is on fire. Can maybe the fire be put out and rebuilt? Sure. But if you hire a contractor to build or remodel you a house and it catches fire - are you trusting them to rebuild or are you going to look at other contractors? Doesn’t mean when the original contractor was hired we didn’t want them to succeed.
  3. But does anyone have any confidence at all that this staff can identify the players that can fill a specific role on next years team? Brian Walsh is following these players. Does this list get anyone that excited? Cade Tyson, Belmont Ryan Conwell, Indiana State Isaiah Swope, Indiana State Connor Hickman, Bradley - Bloomington South grad Ben Humrichous, Evansville
  4. It doesn’t. But that has nothing to do with MR and all to do with we haven’t had a coach that can teach offense since Crean.
  5. Here is the problem I have with the transfer portal. We all wanted so badly Jordan Dingle who ended up at St. John’s and Nicholas Timberlake who ended up at Kansas. We didn’t really have any legitimate chance at any of the other top ones. Dingle - 24.8mpg, 11.2pts, 30.8% 3pt Timberlake - 14mpg, 4.6pts, 28.9% 3pt I realize we didn’t get Caleb Love or Dalton Knecht and those would have been the top 2 difference makers for our team. My point is though, IU has to land quite literally the very best C, PG, SG, and SF in the portal of MM doesn’t come back to have any chance of success next season. And if the best we can get is at the Timberlake/Dingle level, then there won’t be many wins next year either. And as much as it might drive me crazy to watch, we need a Caleb Love type that can create their own shot. We know Woody won’t be creating plays for them.
  6. Maybe we can get the fans in attendance to chant “1 more year” for AL and TG. And chant “retire!” Or “no more years” to MW
  7. We couldn’t get players like Chris Ledlum last year. It’s going to be bad. And while I think there will still be a lot in the portal, the overall pool should be lower with the Covid year gone.
  8. No. Opposite side of the state
  9. Save the boos for when Mike takes the mic. And cheer loudly for the players.
  10. I’m beginning to think we need an AD with some actual AD experience. Move Dolson into the GM role with Adam Howard as assistant GM. Dolson finds the money. Howard finds the player. And a new AD gets us a real coach.
  11. I don’t disagree with this. But you comparing it to the NBA where multi year contracts are signed and college basketball is 1 year options.
  12. It obviously can for the type Woodson wants to recruit. He’s building the G-League Hoosiers. Why go play for G-League Ignite, c’mon down to the Hoosiers. I guess I’m thinking more about how I think many would love a roster to be constructed with 8-9 players being 4 year guys for continuity and 3-4 players that are your 1 and dones and portal players. Thats how you build a culture. There will be no culture with IU basketball with Woodson as coach.
  13. He will have to go the portal route. If I’m the parent of a high school kid that is looking to make a decision on a top school to go to and the HC won’t come see my son and we meet with the GM. That’s a hard no.
  14. We barely beat 300+ teams this year with the roster we have. If we lose all of those players, 10 wins will be hard to come by. And that’s in a down big ten. Our ceiling might end up closer to 8 wins.
  15. I know. But that path coupled with terrible performances in the 2 major sports will mean they won’t have fans at either sporting event in the future. It may take another generation, but it’ll happen if this poor management of the programs continues
  16. IU is going to have a real problem. They enrollment continues to drop for instate kids. And the basketball program which is what made the entire state love IU and IU basketball is dropping fast as well. If/when decisions are made to keep Woodson and keep this cycle of not prioritizing the basketball program it will fall off. Attendance will start to wane and overall support will be gone.
  17. It’s tough trying to raise your kids as IU fans. My 7 year old told me “dad I don’t want to be a Hoosier fan. I want to cheer for Purdue” I of course said no, we’re Hoosiers, but deep down I thought - I don’t blame him. If Mike Woodson is back we may all convert to another team. It’s pathetic
  18. Here are a few players that could pull out of the draft and would be possible grad transfers. Chase Audige, Northwestwen 40/32/83 Damion Baugh, TCU 47/33/71 Jaylen Forbes, Tulane 47/39/86 Ithiel Horton, UCF 41/35/83 Casey Morsell, NC State 56/41/79 Elijah Pepper, UC Davis 54/32/81 Tyler Thomas, Hofstra 58/40/78 Checked a few prospect lost and mocks. None of these players showed up. All are potential grad transfers and would be intriguing fits. None have announced any intention (that I could find) of leaving the draft or transferring but they have until May 31 to remove from draft.
  19. I know. I’m just stating I don’t think the player that IU ends up with, if they fill the spot, has announced either of those things. There isn’t any need to. Just fun speculation on my part. I bet IU can still offer a player like Audige who would be at best a 2nd round pick, better NIL than current school and probably better pay than the non-guaranteed 2nd rd pick contract. He’s been at northwestern for 4 years. I don’t even know if he’d be a grad transfer but seems like a plausible scenario. Again I’m in no way stating it would be Audige. Just a player with a similar circumstance. Late 2nd to undrafted. Not in portal and not withdrawn draft. Grad transfer.
  20. If staff is really waiting on someone to back out of the draft it has to be a graduate transfer right? I just don’t see any other option. So on that note, give me another Northwestern transfer and bring in Audige lol. I think that’s a less than 1% chance.
  21. Yeah I’d rather take Sellers from Ball State. He at least has the playing in game experience. Sure at a small school but I trust Michael Lewis taught him similarly to how Woody would.
  22. Have to start looking at guys that may not have taken a Covid year or have already graduated but aren’t in the portal. Grad transfers don’t have to be in the portal. Some might need a summer class to graduate and could be to IU by late summer.
